Nintendo have announced that Pokémon Gold and Silver will launch on Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console on September 22nd.

This re-release will be compatible with Pokémon Bank, meaning it's finally possible to import Pokemon from all previous Pokemon game in to Pokemon Generation 7. Unfortunately, the game will not be available for the Nintendo Switch.

Nintendo also confirmed today a deluxe version of Pokemon Sun and Moon called Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, will be available on November 17th.

Needless to say i'm pretty happy i'll finally be able to import my Gold and Silver squad from my original GameBoy save.

My theory is Nintendo might want to emulate the Mobile Center over WiFi, allowing people to get the GS ball, which would be pretty cool.

That could then be used as some good PR at a later date, after the hype for Ultra Sun and Moon has died down. I say hype, i do think Nintendo are milking it a bit releasing a newer version of Sun / Moon a year after release... however i'll reserve judgment until we know more about the game.

Yeah it's possible they need more time to implement something different for Crystal, or something, while every game for Gen. I used pretty much all the same patches.

Not like I bother with the VC ones anyway when GameYob is so much more convenient. :D

Also they released that fairly exclusive Mew for Gen. I VC, maybe they might plan on holding a similarly exclusive contest of some sorts that would let people win a code that lets them download GS Ball into their Crystal VC for Celebi.

I'll get one of the two when they release.

..But I don't think there are many of the original GS savefiles left considering the battery type they used.
