Hello, I remove my Xbox 360 Elite's hard drive from its shell (120GB Hitachi) and I have one of those Slim HDD cases (bought it off of eBay for about $10) put it in there and put it in my Xbox HDD bay. Turned on the Xbox just fine. But, there was something wrong. No WiFi. What I mean by this is the Xbox completely changed personalities. It went from Xbox 360 Slim to Xbox 360 Elite. When I went to network settings and chose wireless network it told me to plug in my wireless adapter (xbox never opened before so I know my wifi card is still in slot) and went to storage and everything showed as before on the other Xbox. Removed the HDD and by default it loaded from the flash memory and wifi proceeded to work again and everything else loaded just as normal. Help?? Thanks -xFantuhm
Maybe it's a new limitation or something if you use hard drives smaller than 250gb? This may or may not fix it. Try doing this, go to settings>system>storage>press the following buttons in this order, LB RB X LB RB X > Press yes to delete the system update and to re-download the dashboard update. You can also use a usb drive to update the console. If it still doesn't work you can select the hard drive, press y and select clear system cache and select yes. You can also try holding down the sync button after you turn the xbox on.
Thanks to you Rick. I did the dashboard removal combination and as soon as the prompt came I hit no. Clear system cache on memory unit and hard drive, rebooted and downloaded the update. And just like magic, the wifi adapter was showing up just fine. Thanks again. -xFantuhm
