Sony has FINALLY realized what they were missing.. Sort of.

After many tries, Sony has decided to finally allow home developers to produce their own programs/games, this means, PS3 could have official homebrew apps and games which would be a joy to have!

Sounds interesting, basically Sony's version of XNA Game Studio for there devices.

    Good move for them anyway.

Apparently PS3 is not included, which is definitely a terrible move from Sony.

If they did, then official homebrew software would show up, but nope. Hacking PS3's is still the way to go.

Edit: Someone at the Sony PS3 forums said this: "Also NONE of this PSS software is going to be free. Currently talk is that Sony is going to set the prices not the developers. QA is also going to have to be passed for multi devices. Which would kill off most homebrew on android dead."

    So.. Sony's still shit.

Yeah, this was posted months ago (not here though), although the beta is finally out so there is the difference. As far as I know it's gonna cost you roughly 3,000 dollars in order to make homebrew for the PSV. As it is Sony, there's always some sort of catch.

$3000.. i cant see that stopping hackers then, at least XNA Studio is a lot lot cheaper so your average person can develop for it if they wish.

Yeah, the 360 has had their version of this forever, and it doesn't affect piracy at all. Also, did you really think the software would be free?

    I actually did.

'cos for once I thought Sony would allow homebrew on the official firmware for everyone at no cost.

I was so dead wrong. Sony's Sony. There's no hope for Sony.
