Series creator and writer of the Channel 4 sitcom set in a company’s IT department, Graham Linehan just announced during an IT Crowd Q&A at German conference re:publica that the long-teased special, which he has previously stated will serve as the finale to the series, will be filmed in three weeks’ time.

The script for the forty-minute special was written over a year ago, but the actors, including Richard Ayoade, Katherine Parkinson, Chris O’Dowd and Matt Berry, have been too busy with other filming commitments – and in one case a pregnancy – to work on it until now.

In the meantime Linehan also announced that his new TV sitcom Count Arthur Strong, based on the character that has been appearing in Radio 4 sitcoms for a few years, is expected to be broadcast on BBC Two in June. It was filmed in January, so that might give you an idea of when the IT Crowd special will be broadcast…

I loved the series so it will be great to get a special last episode!

I always hate when these shows end, especially as each season only has something like 7 episodes.
Cheers for the heads up though, I'll be looking forward to it.

I also hate the short seasons of most British shows but you can't deny that the quality is great :) Would be nice to have a final warp up of this show. Working in IT also makes some parts of the show funnier (and eerie to how accurate it portrays some users hehe).

I must admit ive used the "have you turned it on and off again" line a few times, I'm thinking of giving this to a few people ;)

How many actual seasons were there of this? About 3 i think... Would have been nice if there were more due to the shortness of them. Glad that they're making one more episode.

There's 4 series, from what I remember the 4th series came out a couple of years after the 3rd.

I would have loved more episodes per series too, 6 is not enough sadly!
