Welcome to the thread dedicated to the game Jazzjackrabbit 2!

Never played this game? Then it’s time to give it a try! It’s a 2D platform game produced by Epic MegaGames. The game has a community that has updated the game very, very much. The update/patch is called JJ2+. There are also a lot of tournaments being played. This game offers a lot of fun and is more challenging than you think. Digiex is also doing a thing or two for this game. They are responsible for hosting its list servers and are also helping out by hosting the site jazzjackrabbit.net

We will update this thread with info, events, tournaments and other things.

Community: Jazz2online
Clan ladder/tournaments: JJ2 Clan Ladder CTF
How to install the patch and some more downloads: www.jazzjackrabbit.net/info

We owe it to nimrod for hosting the listservers for JJ2 on Digiex ( list1.digiex.net:10055 and list2.digiex.net:10055 ), that makes it possible to join other's game servers online.

Have some online gameplay!

Looking at the above video does JJ2 now have bots?

I must admit i think its awesome people still play JJ2. I think that i stopped playing around 2001 - 2002 ish, from what i have seen now more people play JJ2 10 years later than back when i did! It's pretty mad to think the game is still active all these years later :)

I believe i last played a couple of years ago with Nimrod, Terbor & CurlySteve, we used to have a weekly LAN on a Thursday and ended up playing various old games, JJ2 been one of them! I personally love the survivor maps people created, and the battle maps by Blade and Blurred.

ZStats competition!

There will be a special ZStats competition during november. The
winner of november will win a 24/7 server powered by Zeal servers for one month.
The server can be used as a clan server or just a normal public server of your
choice (within certain rules).

So it's kinda simple, play, get your pwnage and win a server!

If you wonder what ZStats is, it's live stats from the server Zeal Alpha.

I'm still playing JJ2 every now and then. And when I could find the time, I'd be willing to start working on my first serious JCS project. :D

A server called "The Server" hosts Blades Battle Pack's levels frequently even though these levels are so very old already.

New PLUS version!

Yes, a new official version of JJ2+ has arrived, this time more user-friendly than ever. The latest version includes features such as console commands added to the game window-menus, a new weapon(to be enabled) and even 3D TV-support. More can be found from the readme.
A bunch of bugs and glitches were also fixed as expected. However the biggest feature in the new plus is 'AngelScript' for level designers whom are now able to twist their levels with lots of variables in JCS. This one isn't as user-friendly as the other features but it comes with instructions.
Expect Zeal Servers to be shortly updated with the latest JJ2+. All Zeal Duels(and E' Duels) will require all of the players to download and install the latest version.

AngelScript makes like a whole new game out of JJ2! I can't wait to see (and play!) what JCSers will come up with, especially for single player! :D

New release!
As ever, click here to download.

The full list of changes can be found over here.
Here's what you should be excited about, in brief:

  • Mutators! They're AngelScript files, but you can enable them in any level at all, just like JJ2+'s built-in server settings. Add new guns, replace sound effects, whatever you want.
  • Green and Yellow teams!
  • Better Treasure Hunt code!
  • Loads of new graphical options for AngelScript, including rotating sprites, loading graphics from custom .j2a files, and blend modes!
  • Totally rewritten Home-Cooked Levels list!
  • New custom game mode!
  • So, so much more!

Pretty awesome to still see the JJ2 community is active all these years later. I guess JJ2+ is the 1.25 everyone was talking about in the early 2000's.

Myself and Nimrod had some JJ2 games back in University, i think he got me to install a really early version of JJ2+ back then, ill have to check out what's changed since!
