The Settlers is a game series which has been around since 1993, developed by the German studio Blue Byte. With The Settlers series now being 25 years old, Ubisoft had a couple of surprising announcements to make regarding the city-building RTS series during gamescom today.
A new game titled "The Settlers" is currently in development, in addition The Settlers History Collection was also announced for release this fall. The Settlers history collection is a re-master of all seven Settlers games from years gone by, complete with their expansions.
The original Settlers from the history collection is actually available for purchase on Uplay right now, with the rest of the game launching towards the end of the year. However you can already purchase all the past Settlers games with the exception of the first on GoG (Good old Games) already patched up to work on modern computers, which given GoG is DRM free might be the better option. At £4.29 for the original Settlers on Uplay though its something I might take a chance on. I've many good memories of playing this split screen with two mice on the Amiga 500 many years ago.
