Thinking of buying a Macbook

i'm thinking about buying a macbook pro but i wonder if apple's has all drivers fully working on windows with the same feature as in mac os?

so should i buy a macbook to have mac os and use bootcamp for windows or buy a non mac notebook to have windows and try those mac os haked builds?

what's the best thing? i think the real problem are the drivers right?
 
I would buy a mac and use boot camp to dual boot windows on it. I would do that because I tried to put mac os on a pc using the hacked builds and they are messed up and don't work well.

You know when using boot camp on a mac it actually works properly and does not lag and crash as much because it is official and is meant to work on it unlike hacked builds of mac os on pc's.
 
I know you probably don't care, but you should try a linux distro with a nice GUI preinstalled, like Ubuntu or Fedora. They look very nice and you may like the interface more, it's worth a shot, there are livecds available, just download, burn and boot off the CD to try it all out.

Seriously, what are your plans? Mac are generally more expensive that Windows based PC's. Here in Oz we have recently purchased several Mac Books for employees, and they have proven to be as much as 3 times more expensive than the equivelant Windows laptop with docking station and 22" external screens.
 
after reading this i'm now asking myself if it's a good deal right now :(

so new macbook pro has no more expresscard slot, firewire, geforce 9400 instead of the 9600gt as the older had and now even powered by sata 1 so they downgraded sata 2 to sata 1, geforce 9600gt to 9400, removed firewire, expresscard slot and they say the new macbook's pro got cheaper... just LOL!

i think i'm gonna wait a few more months before getting a macbook pro maybe for Christmas they update them again but upgrading specs like the new nvidia gpu powering the GTS 260 or even the older GTX 260 would do it even if it get's hotter and consume more power it's just that the new one are in 40n process and have dx10.1 support :D

and they could upgrade sata 2 to sata 3 and usb 2 to usb 3

if they do that i definitely buy one

ps: and if they get hands on core i7 mobile that would be a big surprise!
 
Well you should ask yourself what you actually want Mac OSX for, as others have pointed out depending where you live you can easily end up paying double / triple the price for a Mac compared to a PC.

You could get a Windows laptop that’s better than a Mac for half the price here in the UK, you’re paying a premium to buy a Mac and use OSX.

If you have the time you can get OSX working on a lot of non apple hardware, it works a 100% perfect on my MSI Wind Netbook.

Tell us what you actually want to use a Laptop / Macbook for?
 
I want one but Im not getting one because of the price. I prefer the OS etc but I would install windows on it anyway so I have both.

what i like in macbook pro:

design
quality materials
nice features like mag safe

what i like in mac os:

apps for video and foto editor are much faster that on windows :/
so it is better for audio and video

but i would still need windows for all the other stuff... you know gaming and all those nice apps around

well actualy i see two choices for me...

clevo notebook with mac os (the problem would still be drivers to get all hardware properly working with mac os)

edit: i still wonder why are there so few notebooks with EFI... i mean it's better than the old BIOS and would make stuff easier to run mac os right?
 
It sounds like you want high end hardware for gaming and video editing, Adobe Premier Elements 7 would probably be the Windows equivalent of Final Cut Express 4 on the Mac.
I wouldn’t say video editing is faster on a Mac, its all down to the processor when encoding stuff, it might be better for you if you perfer the Mac only software such as Final Cut, Apature and Logic Express.

In the UK a Macbook Pro with a Geforce 9600 GT 256MB is £1500, any other model only has the basic Geforce 9400 – see: MacBook Pro - Apple Store (U.K.)

Compared to this laptop here for a random example - Fujitsu Xi 3650 Laptop - Laptops at Ebuyer much bigger screen (18.4”), bigger hard drive, blueray drive and only £876.06

Thats a saving of £624 and your getting more for your money.

Im not saying don’t get a Mac if thats what you really want, im just making sure your aware of howmuch more you pay for the Mac name / OS... however you want to justify the extra cash.
 
Okay, so you're looking for a fast system to do video and audio processing? Then Linux definitely seems ideal, if 10 second boot times and instant second time application opening sounds good then linux is for you. There are many varied audio and video editing packages available for linux for free, including videolerra and audacity.
You should try it on your current system, through a livecd maybe to see if you like the feel of it. If it's good enough for my 60 year old mother to use without guidance, it should be good enough for you.
 
I would think buying something other than a Mac and getting the Mac OS put on would be a better bet. Like InsaneNutter said, you are paying extra for the Mac name and OS. However, if it is what you truly want, I would go with it.
 
There is a lot of benefits of going Mac (a proper mac), for 90 days after purchase you can walk into any of the Apple Retail Stores and they will show you how to do anything on your laptop you want, as well as daily free classes to teach you how to use the applications and acheive tasks. You dont get that at PC world, you just get indian salesman! ;)
 
I didn't think they'd be able to help me, they seem more informative about Windows XP and Windows Mobile.;)
 
Is it possible to dual boot a mac?? that way you can have the mac, with both os' on, make the best of both, or other way around, that fujitsu is an excellent laptop, maybe dual boot that, have mac, and windows on their, if its possible??
 
Yes you can install Windows on a Mac with bootcamp (comes with Mac OSX).

You can also install OSX on normal PC hardware, thats a little harder as OSX is only designed to run on certain hardware.

Both are possible tho.
