It would appear my video of how to update the Xbox 360 with a USB memory stick / DVD infringes on Microsoft's Copyrights... so much for me trying to help people update there Xbox 360's! YouTube forced me take and pass the YouTube copyright school if i wanted to keep my YouTube account, which was not hard at all considering i got 100% without watching the video they wanted me to. I really do find it hard to believe a video which shows files that can be downloaded from xbox.com been copied to a USB memory stick, then that usb memory stick been put in to an Xbox 360 to update it infringes on copyrights... So basically if you make a video that features a non beta version of the Xbox 360 dashboard, or the console itself you're probably infringing copyrights
That's stupid. So if for example I do a case mod and want to show it to the world I can't because it's illegal?!? Wow
if think its fact its showing the dashboard ms should be paying more attention to jtaggers/modders than how to update videos also ive seen people put in their desciption like alittle disclaimer saying that they dont own content and that it remains ms
Is there no way to challenge it? You may not have a leg to stand on with the New Dashboard Video as that does have an NDA, however the old dashboard 'How to update video' has no copyright claim, so as such surely you can appeal it somehow?
I half expected the new one to get removed, however i fail to see how a two year old video on how to update your 360's dashboard in general is really a copyright infringement. I dont really think appealing would get anywhere from what ive read, i do see Microsoft making any effort for a random persons YouTube video: https://www.youtube.com/t/retractions
No doubt this was the doing of the crybabies over on the Beta Dashboard forum, previously going through anything even slightly Microsoft related. Try using Disclaimers as Sean said, or posting videos elsewhere (Meta Cafe, Veoh, Dailymotion, etc). ...and to those NDA lurkers reading this, who now serve and protect their precious NDA. GO FUCK YOURSELF.
I wouldn't have said it as harshly, but I agree. Those "NDA lurkers" are overreacting. Yes, we agreed to an NDA, but it isn't that big of a deal. Don't get me wrong, you wouldn't see me posting a vid using the new dash, but if others do it, I'll just go "meh" and be on my way. It's not my place to report them; it's Microsoft's responsibility to deal with them if they so wish. @Nutter Congrats. Sucks your video was taken down, but at least they didn't remove your account.
The whole inside xbox is by Microsoft, obviously meaning they can show that. What is stupid about it, is that there is honestly no copyright infringement what-so-ever. I guess they didn't like Nutty getting more views on his video than what Microsoft gets on theirs.
