I was just wondering if anyone knew what the deal with the Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver for PC is? Its brilliant, but to find a new in stock copy anywhere (at least in the UK) seems impossible.

I love the thing, its one of the best things I've got for my PC as I can use my 360 wireless controllers as well as headsets on PC games, but I just dont get why it seems to be silent discontinued.

I know this isn't really relevant, but a friend of mine who worked in gamestation told that me that for a while, it was cheaper to buy a 360 wireless receiver for PC with a controller, than to buy just a wireless controller.

I believe they have been discontinued for a while now, no mention as to why. The only thing I can think of is because they’re very poor build quality... I’m on my 3rd one now :(

I really would just buy a wired controller, Especially because anywhere that has these on sale are selling them for £30+

I'm still on my first one and have had no problems with it. Although I don't really use it that much.

Maybe the sales of the Wireless Receiver weren't going well over there? I can't really see why they'd take a product off, since it does actually sound like it sells good over there. It sorta sounds like trying to find a Gamecube controller or memory card despite the fact that you can play Gamecube games on the Wii. Even though it is still added trying to find the damn things are impossible.

You just can’t buy them over here either, I think there only sold new in Japan.
Play-Asia always has them in stock, great website for imports and stuff.

You might get charged import tax if you order from them, I’ve kept my orders small and its never affected me before.

The only Gamecube controllers I want are Wavebirds. Which brand new happen to be almost $200. I can only wonder how much crack did they smoke to put that as a price for a damn controller.

This happens quite alot. Try and find some original Gamecube games like Smah Bros or Zelda Twilight Princess and you'll see what I mean.... As for this wireless reciever I had wanted to get one about a year ago but found most websites reporting that MS were no longer manufacturing the product. Maybe that's only true for the UK :( I recently bought a wired controller for my pc though and was really happy with it when I played Prototype :D I'll have to see what other good games I can play with the xbox controller on PC.

Anything that says “Games for Windows” or “Games for Windows Live” on the box should support the 360 controller without you needing to even reconfigure the controls (except strategy games that use the mouse, such as Age of Empires 3 ;))

Nice list for you, any that have live also have achievements.

I'm still on my first and frankly couldn't imagine life without it. After setting it up to run XBMC on my PC for me, I now use it as a wireless mouse from across the room when I'm to lazy to get up. Heck, I even have a button map to pull up the virtual keyboard if I'm feeling extremely lazy.

You either need the Wireless Receiver or to use a Wired Controller, you just connect the wired controllers and they will work.

No other ways i don't think.
