If you got a moment, please take the following survey: Investigation into energy efficient computing with modern computer systems Survey On question 9, please don't answer unless you are a business user in the first question (I had to pay to have that feature forced, so didnt pay and instead asking you ) All those who complete the survey will receive a Digiex Cookie, or perhaps something exciting, who knows. The survey is for my final year project, so please be as serious as you can be
completed sir. the wording of question six seemed slightly confusing to me, also the answer ranges didnt seem high enough. electricity where i live is about $0.08 per kilowatt hour, so with a 500W power supply, wouldnt that be $0.04 per hour? that comes to about $94 a year, or 61 pounds (how do i make the money sign for pounds?) for a regular PC at the hours specified. servers and gaming PC's usually have larger power supplies, which would go way higher than the 40 pound highest range for the answer selection.
Perhaps an oversight by me, Something interesting to note is even though your power supply is 500watts, its most likely draining around 100watts idle, and 200 watts under full load, however that was from my investigation, which your not suppose to know the results for when filling in the survey. For now, I'd do 40 Pounds and above and ill review the questions for future survey answers. Thank you all for helping
Was going to ask you something yesterday Nimrod but you were at work. Would you rather me fill out this survey as a home user or as someone who works in IT? I don't mind filling out the survey twice either if that's what you'd prefer.
