Just a small request, out of curiosity, which Digiex members have a Playstation 3 which they are going to Jailbreak with the new tools being released? Because basically, Insanenutter, Mastercheif, Dark Synth and Kingzxburnzx and many others who I forgot to mention (sorry ) have done an excellent job with the Xbox 360 Content and Guides on Digiex, and I was hoping we could build a team of people who are interested in doing something similar, but with Playstation 3 content? As it is, I've backed up the latest 3.41 firmware which the exploit needs, which will be posted up, but I was debating in my mind if to make a new section in the Download Center for Playstation 3 content, or to just post it up in the general download center folders. This is of course, based on whenever or not we will have enough content to justify making a whole new section. I know myself and Kingzburnzx are going to be jailbreaking Playstation 3's. I hope to provide more content myself, as I have never been able to add much to Digiex's 360 sections due to a lack of equipment nor understanding of the whole Xbox 360 Scene, I've always just gone round to Insanenutters house and got him to explain to me face to face the latest developments and whats worth doing The Playstation 3 scene will explode, in time, as the jailbreak usb sticks with the backup manager is only the start, I soon expect tools to exist to let you FTP into it, copy games and homebrew onto it, launchers, media centers, just like what happened to the Wii and the Xbox 360. With the Wii however, as much as the content exists, no one at Digiex has shown a major interest so it never developed into its own section. I don't want to make the PS3 section, and find its as dead as the Wii is. So basically, to sum this all up, first of all, which Digiex members either have or will be getting a Playstation 3, who will be spending money (its a lot) for the playstation jailbreak and would like to help develop it post relevent downloads or guides up on Digiex for it?
PS3 Jailbreak I will be getting it here in a couple of weeks even though i do not as of right now like the ps3 as much as the xbox 360. But personally I can give you the things you want for ps3 including like proxy bypass etc.
Nimrod, if you buy one of 'em plug and play expensive things we spoke about, could you try opening the files on it and posting them on Digiex so we could all make our own tools? (If possible.)
I myself will help of course, by uploading things like demo's and such just as I have with the 360. Asuming though that will even be possible later on. As for the new section, I'd say yes. As we should go ahead and prepare for it now, rather than doing it later and having to adjust link's plus the link's we'd be breaking from other site's.

i has a ps3. but i dont understand the mumbo jumbo on how to download the files or how to use them. why cant they be noob friendly...
This will be the most noob friendly hack ever very soon. You will have to buy a certain USB device, connect it to your pc, load some software on it and that will be it. No need to open the console up, no soldering wires to the console, trust me once there are a few tutorials out there you could probably hack a PS3 in your sleep. It certinally looks like we can get some guides and host some of the homebrew content here at Digiex, even if just the few of us that do it, post up the downloads for launchers and homebrew applications as we use them and maybe make a small quick guide to the Homebrew tool we used. For sections, I am thinking perhaps a Playstation 3 Guide section, a sub-forum in Guides and Tutorials, and one sub-forum in the Download Center for PS3 Content for the time being, then as the threads grow, we can expand the Playstation 3 Download section much like we did with the Xbox 360 one, which started off as one forum, and expanded as the content grew. So, so far, we got The king, Dark Scyth (spelt correctly, sorry about last time, im dyslexic) and myself at least to start it going. I don't know if were need to expand into Demos like before, as the disk space vs possible users will be small, espically since I suspect most PS3 jailbreakers wont be using the expoilt to play demos (if you get what I'm implying). Although Digiex wont have anything to do with piracy, we could host all the Launchers, Homebrew applications like Media Center and so fourth, and provide a few guides to get people started. Then when custom firmware becomes available, we can provide that to people and so fourth.

Sounds good, start small and expand when Digiex actually have some PS3 content up, I think it will be nice for Digiex to focus on something else along with the 360. I love the 360 but as 95% of posts on Digiex are about the 360 I cant help be feel we alienate the majority of people who have no interest in the Xbox 360. I dont see myself ever buying a PS3, however you guys might persuade me otherwise over time, who knows
I would like to get a PS3 but I just don't want to fork out the cash for it! I think in the next 2 years maybe a bit more the PS3 will be much better than the Xbox.
I suggest buying a PS3, the homebrew to come out for the PS3 should be quite nice. Also Sony will probably update the console so this exploit doesn't work in due time. This exploit alone was a massive pain in the ass, who knows if another exploit will ever reveal itself. The PS3 doesn't have many exclusive games but its got a couple that are worth playing, like MGS4.
I have a Ylod PS3 60gb sitting here i cant fix (or be arsed to) , its a bit shabby but if you want it just get it picked up and you could do what you want with it Steve Or swap it for an old (but working) 20gb HDD for an Xbox ?
As you may have noticed, I started the PS3 Download Section! I started with the most important thing, the 3.41 Firmware for when Sony release a new version and take the old version down! Secondly, I posted a tool I found when browsing the net which allows a downloaded ISO to be converted into the format used by the Backup Manager. Have you attempted any sort of fix on it? I have a 20gb drive that was taken out my other 360 two weeks ago, I don't have the enclosure for it as I used that to put a larger drive in, the drive works fine though. If your happy to swap it for the 20gb drive that sounds fine to me, will be nice if someone can make use of the drive.
I took it apart and re applied paste to the heatsinks and reshaped the xclamp mounts (kinda like the 360) it did not work and i cannot be bothered to take it all apart again as it takes ages The PS3 has cracked casing where it was bodged open by someone other than me and the power lead has been permanantly wired in , these bits are available on ebay if you manage to get it working i will take a pic and send it to you Steve i have a spare HDD enclosure but the drive is kaput so cool if you want to trade
Thats what i would have tried to be honest too, i've been looking online and the PS3 looks an absolute pain to take apart and re assemble. The other fix looks to be reballing it with a heat gun, something I dont have and am not too sure about attempting anyway. I think as you and another guy have tried to fix it and failed I will pass on the PS3, however thanks for the offer all the same. I've been lurking over the PSP port of PSGroove and things seem to be going slow. its my main resource to Jailbreak my PS3 so I hope they get somewhere with it.
The Netzke Dev Team are making progress on the Android implementation of the exploit, that should allow me to jailbreak with my HTC Evo 4g. Its either that or hope I can soon use the PSP or my bro's iPhone. For a long term solution im thinking about getting a USB development board, I would love something I can just leave connected to the PS3 24/7.
