A closed beta for forthcoming XBLA third person shooter Hybrid kicks off in late April, developer 5th Cell has announced.

You can put your name forward now via the game's official website. Keys will be distributed in multiple groups over the course of the trial period.All those who get a friend to sign up as well will be rewarded with an exclusive golden helmet when the final version of the game launches later this year.

The title, due out in the Summer, tracks a persistent online world war between two factions: an alien species called the Variants and rebel human faction the Paladins. Trailer below.

Just a little update, i just received my beta key in an email.Seems like its North America only? They have never noted it to that region before.

As a beta test participant, you will be one of the first to join in the unique experience that is Hybrid, as well as help us to perfect the game.

Throughout the duration of the beta you are encouraged to send us feedback on your experience via the forums at www.whatishybrid.com/forums. Your feedback is important to us, and ultimately helps us to make the game better for all players.

The beta will go live, and you will be able to activate your code, on Friday, April 27[SUP]th[/SUP] at 11:00am PDT. If you try to activate your code before then, you will receive an Xbox Live error.

In order to participate in the beta, you must have an Xbox live gold account. Your Xbox account must have its region set to North America.

I got a code here in the UK, however ive not tried to redeem it yet.

Will let you know if it works on Friday 27th, if so i have a few 48 hour trials i can use on my US account.
 
American or not, I'd welcome a key.

I've created a US Xbox LIVE account to download free apps/games (it's all that allows me to, due to the region restriction), and for online gaming back to my original UK Xbox LIVE Gold account.

Hopefully they'll send me a key, I hope. :P
