Ok, i recently acquired an old Ipod and not wanting to install Itunes i dug around for some alternate software to add and remove music. i came across PoddoX which is currently in alpha stage. its a really easy programme to use, the interface is nice and clean looking and its super fast to load and upload files. current features are: - its a 416bk stand alone program requiring no installation (so you could carry it around on your Ipod) - add files / directorys to Ipod - remove files / directorys to Ipod - the option to register/unregister to explorers context menu... features in development are: - image support - video support - a music database recovery tool SCREENSHOT - so yeah for a beta its really stable... hardley had any crashes... if any one else trys this let me know what you think WEBSITE - iPod Software PoddoX, iTunes alternative
Wouldn't it be easier just to get an MP3 player where you don't need to install software to put songs on it?
It would be but many people have ipods and have no idea there is any alternative software out there. Winamp also has IPod support
Edit : also my 20gig ipod cost less than 20quid on ebay including postage, try and beat that for value!!! :end this was my dream, i wish all mp3 players were drag and drop... unfortunatly companys seem to enjoy filling up your pc with bloat ware (the zune requires software and dosnt sync with windows media player) so this is a good replacement... there are drm issues, copy protection and stuff im current ly inoring them... since my original post iv installed rockbox, a peice of software that replaces the ipod onboard software... it can read mp3s stored in the "Disk Mode" partion (not quite a partition, but if you have used an ipod you get what i mean, yeah?) replaces all the menus and adds loads of functionallity... il try and get round to writing an install guide... its not hard to insall but i would like to advertise there product as its open source (FREE!!!)
Can't argue with that then, great find! If Itunes works with all Ipod models then I don't think theres any reason that this wouldn't. The website for it doesn't say it's for a specific model (as far as I can tell) so you should be alright to use it.
