    Hello,

Any speculations on what to expect on the next gen consoles? Will BluRay be present on the Xbox? There is little to no information regarding these systems other than just rumours.

Any insightful comments about them? I'm saving up for one or the other and I have no idea which one I should aim for...

There are many things I hope for in the next generation, but I don't expect much. The talk of used game prevention being implemented for both Xbox 360 and PS3 and the WiiU's failure so far (Ninty, why don't you get your non-Japanese fanbase?) is disheartening.

I was really upset with PS3 not having the same features as Xbox 360, so hopefully the next PlayStation will do, and more (whatever it is).

Blu-ray is currently the HD Disc Format so Microsoft may have a BDP on the next Xbox, for the sole purpose of more space on a disc (and being a Home Blu-ray Player for TV Series and Films), I don't really mind double/triple discs as it reminds me of the old days.

Xbox: Just better graphics and Metro Dashboard improved, I think. It's already at its best, so no need to try and fix something that isn't broken.
PlayStation: Add more features and apps, as Xbox 360 has, plus newer graphics.

    Motion ability? Done.
    Cross game chat? Done.
    Digital downloads? Done.
    Great graphics? Done.
    Stream TV/Films? Done.
    Addictive online gaming? Done.
    Fantastic dashboard? Done.

Seriously, it has to be totally brand new or else I won't be getting any next gen-console, and it includes Wii U.

As the rumor is going i don't think i will get a PS4.
From what i heard you can't play second hand games on PS4.

That's a bit unlikely, but I'd bet that Sony's going for the same route they did with PS2 BC on PS3s. Make it "limited edition" and then bin it away.

These are rumors so take it with a grain of salt.

360: Run Capacity 1.23 Teraflops, RAM: (Possibly GDDR3) 8GB, 3GB of RAM is reserved for the OS and Apps the other 5GB for games.etc, Based on the 8770 Radeon HD GPU.
PS3 Run Capacity 1.84 Teraflops, RAM: (Possibly GDDR5) 4GB, 512MB to 1GB of RAM is reserved for the OS the rest is for games, Based on the AMD A10 APU.

Both systems rumored to have the ability to read 100GB Blu-Ray discs.

For the next Xbox 1080p 60fps games is all i want from the next gen, other than that just keep improving with new features.

Less restrictions would be nice too, if i want to place a 2TB hard drive in the console i should be able to without been forced to buy an "official" drive at 3x the price it should cost, with limited space.

Michael @ Yea, but Sony must be smarter than that to use such system that will make them lose customers to other companies, besides, there's already Online Pass which only permits to play online with a new code.

Insane @ That's cool too, but having an External HDD reminds me of Wii U's case, which I'd prefer to have instead an Internal HDD of 250 GB+.

Thats what i mean by "in the console" i wouldn't want the hard drive to be external either! Even if the console does not ship with a massive hard drive, allowing users to freely upgrade the hard drive like the PS3 does would be a big plus in my books, especially if games are going to be on 100gb Blu-ray discs.

Which one is better? These numbers are so similar yet so very different...

In theory the next Playstation should be with 1.84 Teraflops vs 1.23 Teraflops on the next Xbox.

However the Xbox has a lot more ram, ram has always been a limiting factor in the PS3. The Xbox has a vastly superior SDK compared to the Playstation which has allowed developers get get much more out the console.

I dont think we will truly know until both are out and we see what each console can do, its hard to do a direct comparison.

Power is not everything either, user experience and software plays a massive part in what makes a good console.

That makes sense, Nutter. Hmm! I'm looking forward to these consoles. Not sure if I should spend money on my motorcycle or video games now... Life is tough.
