For £400 it better be a better be equipped with software properly whereas Sony was flawed with PS3 and removed Linux from it.

Oh god, I really hate when people bring up OtherOS still today, but just for this once, I'll allow myself.

Well after watching the full event it seems Sony has learned from past mistakes and stepped there game up they sure have one over microsoft as reported specs of next Xbox are weaker than ps4 supposedly I also think Xbox will release later not very good business wise pitting 2 next Gen consoles in same time frame although might happen I see next Xbox release early 2014 as ps4 is 22/11/2013

People will not automatically buy the newer console that comes out, there's millions of people using Xbox 360 (with Xbox LIVE), PS3 and Wii (or Wii U).

I don't see myself buying a new console any time soon.

I hope that the new XBox games won't be like this Amazon.com: Watch Dogs (PlayStation 4): Video Games $$$$! I usually wait about a year or little more before buying a new console. All the games I want for the 360 will come down in price and I'll have plenty to keep me occupied until all the bugs are worked out (red rings) on the new console and I can afford it.
With economy and job securtiy is bad, I don't think a lot of either console will sell.

God I hope the new games don't cost that. I'd see the game industry tanking if they charged that much for new games! I'm also in the same place as Flowzilla, this generation has been a long one but because of that there's been a ton of quality games that have come out and I've not managed to finish many myself so I can wait a few years before jumping onto the next gen wagon :)

£400 seems quite reasonable to me although some on lower budgets will have to wait for price cut or save up ithink current gen will last at least 8 months before everyone jumps ship most next gen games are in £50 mark because the hardware is new look at wii u those games are £50 although once 720/ps4 arrives nintendo will be behind again lol

I think £400 is a lot personally, then again the PS3 was £425 when it launched in the UK i believe.
The 360 premium was £280 and the core £210 if i remember correct, a vast difference.

I wouldn't want to pay more than £250-300 at launch for a console, and at that price i would expect 2x controllers and any other stuff to make full use of the console.

yet I've been thinking I think £400 may just be placeholder price and they said 8gb gddr5 correct me if I'm wrong but isn't gddr5 very expensive unless is a new ram type for ps4 either that or its split 4GB GPU and 4GB system ram

Buying a console at launch is not a wise idea because:
    1) High price
    2) Low catalogue of games
    3) Games to still receive fixes (considering they were rushed like they are normally)
    4) Not worth the full price
    5) If re-selling you won't get the same price you paid for it

Part of me does sort of agree with you, things will never be as good for an early adopter than someone who gets the console two years down the line.

However as the console evolves and gains features you will notice it more. In regards to the price i doubt the console will be significantly cheaper for a couple of years to make it worth while holding off for that reason.

I personally plan to invest in an Xbox right at the start of the next gen, i'll hopefully be able to keep Digiex updated with any content / tools that become available for the next console.

I Do not like consoles too much. I prefer to use a Computer with Windows 7.
It would support Older PS games like PS1, PS2 and PS3 Games?

If my friends became PC gamers, I would be more of a PC gamer than anything. Besides that, the only thing keeping me away is the fact that the games I want to play the most will never be PC games. Take games like Shin Megami Tensei, more than likely those will always be console games. It's the exclusives that keep me going purely PC. Also consoles will always be outdated before they even come out. Technology is really getting to the point where there are insane leaps everyday in what is capable of being done. That and they're trying to keep consoles someone cost efficient.

thing that made me make the jump was that i would have the mainstream catlogue of console games minus the exclusives but i was replacing those exclusives with massive libary of free to play games as well as mmorpg im currently enjoying star wars the old republic i also enjoy steams in game overlay
