Worrying times, look's like Xbox One will have a price drop very quickly after launch (after the hardcore will pay anything lot have purchased it). Sadly as I want one at launch I'll be one of those screwed over :(

This makes the next gen very hard now, from a console stand point the PS4 is everything i want in a console.
Next gen, no drm, no restrictions (its probably even region free like the PS3...) and its £79 cheaper...

However in my view though the Xbox still has the better exclusives, i do question how long that will last for as it looks like Sony is going to have a massive advantage this gen.

I could well see the next gen for the PS4 going like this gen did for the PS3. The Playstation was the number one console at the start, then the 360 just kept innovating, was cheaper and had some amazing exclusives so ended up been the top dog.

Gamers must hold a PlayStation Plus subscription to play PlayStation 4 titles online, Sony confirmed with GameSpot this evening.

PlayStation Plus subscriptions are currently offered for $50 per year.

Sony Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida explained to GameSpot that the requirement is a response to the additional investment the company has had to make on the network side.

The PS4 launches later this year for $399/€399/£349, or $100 less than competitor Microsoft's Xbox One. In addition, the PS4 will play used games and won't require an online check-in.

At least they lost their PSN is free aspect, suddenly Xbox Live seems good value for money as it's a million times better than PSN!

They may improve PSN now that they've announced a required fee for playing games online. I actually really like the look of the PS4 and the starting price isn't too bad either. No doubt I'll eventually end up owning all 3 systems at some point anyhow as I currently own a Wii, PS3 and 360 :)

That's the real console? What the hell were they thinking?!

Still, PlayStation 4 is what I'm going for anyway.

I thought that! not quite sure what it looks like... some half built pyramid?

However after hearing Microsoft's announcement it seems like Sony gave gamers everything they were asking for

I guess I'll just get used to this design, but for now and a few years I'll stick to Xbox 360 then move to PS4.

By then I hope PS4 Slim exists, which probably will have a better design.
