Not sure if you could actually walk in to a store and purchase this for the Xbox One or not, given the game is actually out on other platforms. However i was surprised to come home and find my pre order for CoD Ghosts.

I'm aware i've said I wouldn't buy another CoD game, however i've always enjoyed the campaigns and the multiplayer will keep me busy until more of the games I want are released next year.

Here's to hoping the Xbox One will arrive early too!

Interestingly enough a PC with a Blu-ray drive doesn't appear to read Xbox One games at all. Unlike with 360 games not even a video is present telling you that the game should be put in an Xbox 360 to play.

I'm assuming they have a special sort of protection on it or something. It could also be that the file structure or whatnot for the Xbox One games are done in a way no other Blu-Ray drives should be able to read normally. This is all guessing though.

My bro bought the Xbox One fom Germany last week (it's not officially released here in NL), and we ordered the game Dead Rising 3 from the UK as we all know games+violence+germany=trouble. We also got one paid character for Killer Instict and the full Fifa 14 game download.

So far I like the console but still have some mixed feelings. Loading times in both DR3 and KI are way longer than what I'm used to. Also, I hope that at some point Party Chat could be used between Xbox 360 and One users, as most of the friends that I usually play with won't buy the One on launch.

The fact cross-generation party chat doesn't exist now, means its very unlikely it will ever appear as over time more and more people will move next-gen and the player base lowers and lowers on old gen making the need to spend time to develop this technically less and less needed over time. The technical reason for it not being included is that the voice codec and quality in use on Xbox One is much higher/better and as such, 360 consoles couldn't decode it.
However one benefit of the Xbox One which helps more with PC / PS4 users is that you can make a party chat in Skype and talk to users cross-platform while playing on your Xbox One :)
In time, I'm sure most of your friends will move across soon enough and party chat can resume as normal :)

Load times are a bit terrible, but its the same on PS4 :( I think we just need to accept that with the massive increase in texture quality (as seen by the fact games are 30-40gb vs 5-10GB previous gen) means we need to accept it takes longer to read these from the hard disk to the console in this generation.

Hopefully as developers get better at coding to this new hardware, they can use the same sort of code they did on Gears of War where low res textures load in to begin with then the game in the background fills in the higher res textures as they are loaded from hard disk to the game. It does make a somewhat noticeable 'pop-in' affect, but if it means games load instantly / much faster I think that be acceptable compromise :)

At least the PS4 appears to have very small installs before being able to play a game as compared to the Xbox One. If they would of gave the console higher RPM hard drives and larger ones or let us change out the hard drive with SSD (seems a little extreme but they would be rather efficient for load times), they could install the whole game and just run it from the hard drive with no issues.

I think with the Xbox One the size of the game install you have to do before playing depends on the game, with Forza 5 you could start playing from about 10%, where as with CoD Ghosts i think it was more like 40% / 50% before you could play.

With all the multiplat games, it appears the PS4 was able to play within under a minute and on the XBOne it took usually over 10 minutes of installing before they could even boot. I imagine installs are determined from how vital the data is to the game before they let you play but it still seems to be quite a gap in play time. I would assume the PS4 has a laser with quicker read speeds. Though that could end up being a bad thing if that means it'll weaken out quicker. Time will tell if that'll ever be an issue.

Overall, while the install times is a valid point, it's not overally a major concern to me. When you install a game it's a one time thing, and the difference 1 minute or 10 isnt a big deal as once it's installed it's done with.

Though saying that, once the Xbox One average game library exceeds the 500GB HDD size it could become an issue. I know it will be solved by uninstall old games no longer played or using an external HDD but that could mean occasionally an inconvience. I'm hoping more games post-launch complete the Forza Model, I have a download code for that and at 10% I was up and playing and the game was still downloading as I played and if I opened any levels not downloaded yet, it just streaming them live which is kinda cool :)

Though if your going digital with games, the Xbox One being able to pick up new downloads on stand by mode will be cool. Just buy the game on the website at work, and the console has it all installed for when you get home :) If they later add the abiltiy to preorder (i really hope they do) it be cool if the console can either pre-load like Steam does, or at Midnight when the game launches and I'm asleep, it can download it ready to go ;)

Yeah, overall it's not a big issue, just an inconvenience for people like me who're busy and just want to put in a new game and play for a few. Granted it'll just be one play session that is shortened due to this but i've just never been big on waiting.

They should of just went with a 1TB hard drive if they weren't going to make it replaceable without voiding the warranty. If you have 10 games that are 40GB for installs, that's 400GB right there. Granted, I imagine most games will be under that but with how large games are becoming, it won't take long to fill that up.

As i have a 1TB drive in my modded 360 and have managed to fill that up 500GB seems like nothing in a next gen console where games are up to 50gb. Although unrealistic due to prices i think a 2TB 2.5" drive would have been nice. You can not get them for about the same price as the 1TB 2.5" drive i got for my 360 a few years ago.

I just have Ghosts and Forza 5, don't want to get too many games to start with as ill never complete them lol
