Nope your console has to extract the files form the official update. You also have to run the update from a FAT32 formatted usb hard drive, i dont think you can do it off the internal hard drive.

Can I just backup my original 60 gb drive to my PC with sata cable, then install a new 1TB drive and let the xbox format it, then copy my original backed up content to the 1TB drive an d pop that back in the xbox? I don't care about, Avatars, xbox 1 games or emulators. Just use it for 360 games only. My avatars are greyed out already as it happens..

    Its rjtagged, and FSD 3

Yes, that will work. This guide is simply about doing a proper job, as to go back and do that later you will have to wipe the entire drive.

You might as well just spend the extra 5 minutes doing a proper job then its done with.

Its been over 4 years since i did this, however i believe it will erase everything on the drive when you re-partition it.

Thanks for your fast reply. :)

Is FATXplorer the best soft (faster, reliable) to mount 360 HDD partitions in windows (viadirect sata connection) to backup/restore data?

I did a previous restore via ftp and it take overnight to complete for "only" 200 GB of a 256 gb HDD... now for a 2tb HDD it can take ages! :S

I personally like Party Buffalo Drive Explorer, i've always found it to be reliable, has good features and is free. However ive never had 2TB of data to transfer to my 360 all at once so couldn't say what explorer app would be the quickest.

Hello everyone, i'm a bit new in this field. I have a question. I had a 250gb HDD inside my slim (dash 17150) with avatar update and everything, running fsd 3 and dashlaunch 3.14. Then i decided to upgrade to 500gb HDD. I installed everything again, i updated avatar and kinect, all good. Then yesterday i decided to format the HDD again and once i installed all my tools i found out to have avatars and kinect patched already without any update...is it normal? i mean, i thought that everytime you format your HDD you have to fix avatars and kinect like i did when i migrated from 250 original drive to my 500gb. Thanks in advance.

Yes that's normal, you are only formatting the user data partition on the drive. The avatar / kinect data, along with the Xbox Classic emulator will not be erased.

Is it possible to transfer all officially purchased DLCs from original HDD (clean x360) to the new HDD (x360 freeboot)?

@InsaneNutter What is the quickest way for me to transfer all the content from my old drive to my new drive, assuming I have the ability to connect both to the same PC? Party Buffalo doesn't allow direct transfer between two 360 drives, AFAIK. Xplorer360 needs special releases for each HDD size doesn't it? Does Xplorer360 even allow transfer between two 360 drives?

One other question: if I copy the Aurora folder and dashlaunch folder (including the .ini) from one drive to the other, will Aurora boot up and function as it did on the old drive? It my head that makes sense. But I don't know if Aurora makes other changes to the HDD or puts special files somewhere.

BTW, are these the latest Xbox1 emulator/compat files?

Thanks for any help and thanks for this guide,
    T

I'd copy all the content to a PC, then to another hard drive via FTP. Xbox 360 Content Manager v3.0 is great for sorting content on a PC and uploading it via FTP to an Xbox 360.
Copying it back to another hard drive via Party Buffalo could possibly be quicker though as FTP is limited to 100mbps, I personally use FTP though unless im doing something with my legit non modded Xbox 360. I find it easier as the 360 is just sat on my network, no need to remove the hard drive or anything.

Aurora should boot up and function the same.

The latest Xbox 360 Hacked Xbox Backwards Compatibility v5832 April 2018 is this one.

Hey there, I added an internal HDD to my Xbox 360 slim that only had that 4GB internal memory, but unfortunately that X360 is dead now, I plan on buying another one and adding that HDD from the old one to the new one. My question is if I just insert it to the new X360 will it work instantly or do I have to reformat it to the new X360 ? Both consoles are/will be Jtag/RGH already

The hard drive should work in the other console perfectly fine.

Thanks for the quick reply. After seeing your answer, I bought the Xbox 360 and the internal HDD worked fine, just a plug n' play and that's it, just as you said :D
