Nobody ever seems to talk about the RE7 pre-order dlcs. I only own the "action set" for EU PS4 myself. I'd like to upload it onto this site at some point, but I'm lacking a PS4 at the moment. There should be 2 NA and 6 EU ones.
I imagine for the PS4 at least these will end up online at some point given piracy is possible on the PS4, meaning people will share / preserve content. Even if you did have a PS4 you'd have to update it to download the content, which patches any current exploits you could use to explore the hard drive. Although it is possible to explore the Xbox CDN servers with some open source tools, I never had much luck with that. So consoles have potential, however content sharing is not that easy for current gen PlayStation's and Xbox's yet.
Yeah, it probably is better to wait until the end of a console's life to mod it to your heart's content. It probably isn't so far away, if the rumors are to be believed.
I think the Xbox One / PS4 have another few years in them yet. We just got a mid gen upgrade with the One X and PS4 Pro. In a few years time I think we will get another Xbox / PS upgrade, then the Pro / One X will become the new base model and newer games will drop support for the original Xbox One and PS4 when newer engines can't run on them.
Indeed that was unexpected, it will be interesting to see if they launch a new console any time soon. I would have expected the original PS4 / Xbox One to be around for a few years yet as their reasonably priced to get people on to the platform who then might purchase a 4K capable console at a later date.
