Now its gotta be said, the Digiex Staff love nothing more than playing Mario Kart Versus Mode non-stop, infact we have 3 hour+ games every week. But one major discussion is what one is prefered?
Mario Kart Wii
Has 32 courses (most courses so far) and lots of new charactors and now bikes as well as normal karts
Mario Kart Double Dash
16 Tracks with only karts, but two racers per kart.
Mario Kart 64
The one that bought the game into mainstream.. 8 Racers and single karts but some good tracks.
My favourite: Double Dash
Why I like this so much I dont know. To be honest I think the fact its not like its original and the ones after. It took a different approach and changed the Mario Kart style of play. For example you cant hand weapons out the back of your cart like normal, and you have two racers which can hold different weapons.
Ive bought Mario Kart Wii and fell in love with it at first, we played a lot of Versus mode and Ive enjoyed online play. But when it comes down to a grudge match on VS it just seems less interesting. I mean having stunts, the new power slide system just makes the game too much of a chore to keep first place, meaning you have to do tricks and slides all the time to keep the speed up. So whilst the game offers more, I feel the style of gaming I enjoyed from Double Dash is missing. Maybe I cant forget the past?
