On the off chance anyone is curious:
I started looking into all of the GameCube demo discs for hidden files (not just Pokemon). I ran across this thread here which mentioned that the encrypted .zip file on Demo Disc 14/15 has the Password of "pokemon". FIX94 says the following in that same...
Still working towards our goal. We had a very big update/breakthrough last year that has really helped jump the process forward and I would now say that we have "all of the necessary files" for when this does become public :) Hopefully more updates to come in the next few months, and ideally a...
Thank you! This was figured out a few years back by "ppltoast", but looking back I don't think it was ever posted publicly (and definitely never with this much detail). This would be a great piece of information to add to the first post of this thread :)
This has been the main thing holding me back from modding my cube as well. I love the look and design of the GameCube much more than the Wii, but the Wii can just do so much more for 99% of the games I'd want to play.
Still, I am jealous haha, very nice mod and I would love to do this to one of...
Sorry for the delayed reply on this, I have been on vacation the past few weeks and didn't see this comment chain until last night. I will try my best to provide a “little communication,” and hopefully provide some insight. For what it is worth, we all do still intend for all of this to be...
Awesome stuff, so awesome to hear about this stuff all of these years later. For what it's worth, when we were redeeming a lot of Gen2 PCNY Pokemon for preservation, we also had several saves get corrupted. There is some problem with the Gen2-era distribution that can totally nuke the GBC saves...
Do you mind me asking if you or your friend personally attended these events back in the day? Any stories about receiving these events in person would be great :)
That's a hell of a task, I'd imagine every individual game from third party publishers would have different servers etc... I'm sure the Playstation specific ones are out there or could be captured easily enough with Wireshark, but I'm not sure this is the approach you want to take for whatever...
Glad to see more people interested in this community :)
To answer some of your questions:
Any DS Flashcard will likely work fine, I've personally used a $4 flashcard for years without any issues, but to my knowledge only certain flashcards will work on the 3ds without modifications to the 3DS...
Feel free to PM it to me, and I can send it along to anyone else that would have interest in looking at it :). The ROM size can vary if I remember correctly, the link dumper tools don't have the best time in the world correctly detecting the size of development cartridges.
Awesome purchase! If you have a Wii with Homebrew and a Gamecube Link Cable, would you be open to using https://github.com/FIX94/gba-link-cable-dumper and comparing the ROM of your device with the ROM on digiex? You obviously wouldn't have to release the ROM or anything if that is a concern, but...
