So I recently finally ordered an Everdrive GBA, and after using the SRAM patch on this rom, I noticed the distribution counter always stayed at "0" no matter how many distributions I made. I then realized that when you select the rom on the Everdrive, go down to "ROM Settings" and set "Save Type" to SRAM, then select "Apply". After this the distribution counter worked as intended.

I'm glad you managed to get that working perfectly on real hardware too, I did wonder if it was detecting the same type incorrectly. I'll add a note about the Everdrive to the original post as i suspect that is going to be one of the most popular flashcards going forward.

Why would you sram patch roms on everdrive?

The distribution counter displays "Backup Error" otherwise. But you just gave me an idea to try setting SRAM with an unpatched rom. That should work now that I think about it, I just know it's at least manditory with an old flashcart like InsaneNutter's.

I'll report back a bit later whatever happens. I don't have time at the moment.

Does ED detect save type as Flash 128k by default for the distro rom though? Might need to be set manually

    https://krikzz.com/forum/index.php?topic=5488.msg42754#msg42754

Could be worth a try. Disregard if you've already tried that.

Otherwise I guess it's possible that there is an incompatibility between ED and this particular rom. :P

Okay, so the default save type for this rom is "None". Setting it to SRAM still displays the Backup Error with an unpatched rom.

Edit: I missed what you said about manually setting Flash128k, so I tried that and it indeed worked for the unpatched rom. That's good news.

It's probably just because this is a weird rom. All the retail games are auto detected and save without any configuration, at least from my experience so far.

It's not really a weird rom. ED simply uses gba release list database for save types, a database that the distro roms wouldn't be a part of (at least not yet.)

Yes the GBA ones will work on the Everdrive, for the Gen 4 and 5 distributions you will require a DS Flashcard.

Thank you for this nice rom! Does anyone know how many different mew can be generated through this distribution cartdrige? I have read for example that berry fix rom can generate only a few zigzagoons(more or less 150?). Is it true also for aura mew, or this rom can generate a huge number of different mews?

It doesn't have the same restriction as shiny Zigzagoon, because it doesn't have to ensure a shiny PID.

If I'm correct the theoretical maximum amount of different Mews is 65536, but realistically, some of those PIDs would result in shinies and are ignored. So the actual amount is a little bit lower.
There may still be other seed restrictions that bring the total amount much lower, though, but it should still be in the thousands. It would be very unlikely you'd get the same one twice.

Thank you! Is it known how the rng algorithm works ?

It's known, yes. I wouldn't be able to link you to a copy of the code for the algorithm because I don't know where to find it, but if you wanted to you could generate (B-A-C-D)(R) in PID Finder on PokéGen.

Turns out the client side multiboot ROM for Negaiboshi Jirachi was in the English Jirachi distribution from the Bonus Disc the whole time?

We could probably use this to build a distributor ROM...

Yeah, we figured this out about a year ago. As for building GBA roms out of the Jirachi multiboots, what we made will work with VBA, but fail to work on real hardware or any other emulator. Lots of research was put into this at the beginning of the year, but in the end, it still has yet to be perfected. This project has been untouched for a long time, and last I remember it was at a dead end.

I wanted (and get requests) to at least release what we have that works with VBA, but my friend on ProjectPokemon who figured most of this out doesn't like to release his projects that aren't completed. I've asked him in recent months and he's still not ready. Maybe in the future, but I can't really make the decision or further the progress. The knowledge to understand how to tweak the rom in regards to the proper linking/sending functions is extremely complicated and out of my capabilities.

Have you tried fixing the header with GBATA?

The issue had nothing to do with the header. It was the linking/sending that didn't sync correctly which caused a freeze. This is because these are originally GCN distributions, so the multiboots send at a slightly different time than a GBA distribution. It's technically doable, since that's what Nintendo did with the Berry Glitch Fix Zigzagoon. I actually thought studying the BGFZ would be the key to figuring it out, but it wasn't. The issue had something to do with what was called JoyBus communication. Whatever the inconsistency is, VBA ignores it.
