Recently have RGH'd a Falcon console, I am attempting to play Morr0wind on it from an xbe file (inside a folder). When launching with FreestyleDash I get a crash, 'fatal error intercepted" right after xbox splash screen. I have not installed the hacked partition 2 fixer, or the hacked compatibility files. I'm not sure why these are necessary, for this particular game. Perhaps someone can explain. Don't really want to modify this particular Hard Drive, and its partition 2. Will be getting a new hard drive in mail soon, to which I will probably try these. Ran the xbe file in cxbx-reloaded so it does work. The game utilizes a patch from xbox live of about 3mb. The point is to run this game from hard drive and have the patch loaded as well, and have it working of course. Would prefer to run from an ISO, perhaps need new launcher. Thank for help! Does the hard drive you have in the Xbox 360 contain partition 2 with an up to date Xbox Classic emulator? The Xbox Classic emulator lives on partition 2, so if you don't have this then Xbox Classic games will not work. The hacked emulator is optional to improve compatibility with games not officially supported, however you do need partition 2 + the emulator one way or another. To rule things out, can you currently play the game from disc on that console?
So I took the 500gb hard drive which I had set up with hddhackr (in earlier posts) from my 2012 xbox slim and plugged it into the Falcon that I just RGH'd. So yes the drive has valid partition 2 with the emulator and compatibility update both working and I had been playing it off disc on the Slim. Unfortunately the Falcon has a DVD drive that won't read disc, which I plan to replace at some point. I will try one of the xbox original games that I downloaded off the games with gold service. See if it works. So when game crashes it makes a noise like when the original xbox dash, but you can't see the message in FreestyleDash v3. Should I perhaps be using a different dash? I am new to RGH. Also I'd like to run the game from ISO not sure if it really matters but playing the game out of a folder seems chincy I mean the whole DVD layout is gone. Anyways this morning will try a downloaded xbox original game from stock dash and see what happens. I assume just press xbox button and then Y to exit freestyle dash? Is there a way I can stop FD from auto starting with my console? Thanks for help I would try it now but its 4:44 am and I have roomates I need to not wake up =/ One more thing to mention when installing FD it said unable to update dashLaunch dashboard is too new? I am on current dashboard 17559 I believe. I'm not sure what is dashLaunch some type of functionality for FD? Or Just a different launcher? It was included with FD EDIT - ok have downloaded dashlaunch 3.21 and aurora 0.4b will install later Would prefer to just use original dash tho. Also I tried the dvd2god program and it can't find the game files to make the god, this game has a DVD format movie which masks the game data
For Xbox Classic games I used to run them from default 360 dashboard as GoD's, historically they never worked from a USB drive. I'm not sure if that's still the case as its honestly been many years since I really played on my 360 much now. Try loading one like that to see what happens. I think ISO2GoD will convert Xbox Classic games too, although its been a good number of years i'm not 100% now. You can use Dash Launch to configure what xex starts when you power the 360 on, this will be installed on your Xbox if its auto booting FSD.
Yes ISO2God is what I tried, not dvd2god oop. Wont make the GoD because of the DVD movie masking the game data. I'll see if I can make the God file out of extracted ISO. Kind of annoying FD starting every time, When you try to exit it just reboots FD. finally figured out to start default.xex in root folder for dashlaunch however now I have to update dashlauch manually in order to change anything EDIT -- okay just change launch.ini in root of 360 hdd and remove default = freestyledash.xex but I did also update dashlaunch, it seems to be just one xex file, default.xex, in apps folder
Made the GoD out of a repacked ISO that I made, it just hangs on xbox splash screen. I think it is not loading the patch for the game?
Apparently this game won't run when extracted, and theres no way to mount it as an ISO with RGH. I installed the hacked partition and files from this link https://www.reddit.com/r/360hacks/wiki/original_xbox and now when I try to lauch the game says game cant launch, try downloading again. I have tried it as a GoD and launching the xbe with FD. I can't believe there is not an ISO launcher for RGH. Should have got the xK3y / x360key instead =(
The problem lies in the fact that this (and many other) original xbox games have DVD VIDEO datatype written to them, which not only makes the rest of the data files in DVD ISO format hard to read with most programs, it is also impossible to make a working GoD file because of them. On boot the xbox emulator reads default.xbe and immediately runs "DVD VIDEO TRACK 0" which is the starting logo which does not exist in the GoD and even if you put it in there in the ISO it will not find it because it is not in DVD VIDEO format. So for digital versions what is done is the default.xbe file is recoded and the paths changed to point to some MPEG2 or AVI or similar type that is added into the ISO/data files and the DVD Video sector/type is removed
Okay figured it out! And working!! =) You do need the hacked compatibility partition fix and the files, to bypass the media checks. Which I had installed, problem was I screwed up and copied the Compatibility folder into the compatibility folder on Partition3. It needed to go on Partition2. In the instructions on the reddit page it says install to HDDx which I assumed meant HDD1 in FD except I guess in Aurora you can see partition2 as HDDx. However I can't see partition2 on my xbox 360 so had to hook it up to my computer to fix. After watch a lot of videos realized partition fixer had wiped my partition 2 and needed to replace the files but had done so in the wrong compatibility folder. I guess somehow the movies are copied over although I can't see them, and the GoD is working great! Thank god was about ready to smash this thing.
