Plenty of older PC games refuse to start without Games for Windows LIVE, Microsoft's online service and software layer for PC games. The installers here get those games running.
Download:
Download Games for Windows LIVE 3.5.95.0
gfwlclient.msi and gfwlivesetup.exe install the full Games for Windows LIVE client, for games that sign you in through it.
Tip: Microsoft closed the Games for Windows Marketplace in 2013, so this is mainly about getting a game to start. Some online features may not work. If you're after Age of Empires Online, there's a thread for that as well.

- Right-click xliveredist.msi (3.5.95.0) and choose Run as administrator. That's the redistributable most games ask for.
- Start the game that needed it.
- If the game still asks for the Windows Live Sign-in Assistant, install wllogin_32.msi on 32-bit Windows or wllogin_64.msi on 64-bit.
