Connecting 2.1 speakers to earphone jack of a monitor ?

I have Asus VK248H monitor with Earphone jack : 3.5 mm Mini-Jack (for HDMI Only). I want to buy Edifier x220 speaker with Audio Input Type:3.5mm Stereo line-in and Input Type: PC / AUX. Will it work, especially the bass?

If your PC is capable of outputting audio over HDMI to the monitor, then i see no reason why plugging some speakers in to the monitors 3.5mm jack wouldn't work.

sorry i should have mentioned it 1st am using xb1 via hdmi.

Just plug some headphones in to the 3.5mm jack on the monitor, if you get sound through them you will with some speakers too.
