Destiny Offline Mode?

I've never played Destiny and wondered if I can play it offline on my RGH? I've read that it must be connected online, but isn't there a fake Live feature I can use?

I've never seen a modded version of Destiny that can work totally offline on the 360. Even when you are playing by yourself the game is still talking to the Destiny servers.

I suspect its one of those games that might eventually see a custom server allowing it to be played on older consoles when the official servers are eventually closed down.
