Download / rip / save Channel 4 - 4oD (4 on Demand) Content with no DRM as MP4's

I cannot use this as in the box player it tells me to update FLASH. I use google chrome and my FLASH is UP TO DATE so why does it keep asking to up my flash. Also I tried clearing HISTORY COOKIES AND CACHE as you replied to earlier but this still does not help me. Is there a way round this or will I not be able to use this to DOWNLOAD
 
Hi, Can anyone help with this? I've downloaded the 40d-rip-download-package zip, unpacked it and have followed the instructions above to download Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (missed the last episode). What happens is that rather than downloading the program in one .flv file, it downloads 6 small .flv files (total about 12Mb) and stops saying download complete. Everything's allowed through the firewall and the prog plays fine in rtmpExplorer. I've tried stopping, rebooting and starting again but get the same thing every time. Any ideas? Thanks!
 
It doesn't work for new programs any more sadly, their is nothing you can do to download new episodes at the moment.

Even the XBMC plugin for 4oD no longer works.
 
As mentioned above for really old content it should, however for anything remotely new sadly not.
 
Thanks for the tutorial! I just got it to work for ep1 of North Square on 40D. I would say that show qualifies as old content. But i can't get the downloader to work for any of the other eps. I've closed IE, reopened it, deleted history, I accept cookies on my IE settings, rebooted the computer - done everything I can think of but can't get it to work again.

I noticed that your tutorial doesn't mention how 40D requires one to register w/ an email and user name (which I've done) and log in before being allowed to play the content. I had to do that when I ripped ep1, this is what happened: After entering my log-in info and hitting "sign in", the little arrow spun, spun, spun and nothing happened; to get something to happen, I clicked a link on the sign-in box to learn more about cookies; the link to the info about cookies loaded in the downloader and then I hit "Back" to go to the previous screen where the content was; at that point, the page got past the "sign in" phase and asked me to "accept and play" the content. From there, everything went as you described above and the ep ripped.

But now with subsequent episodes, I can't get past the sign-in phase (the arrow spins and spins) and trying to force something to happen as I just described above doesn't work either - the video screen stays black and the URL bar in the downloader doesn't proceed past the URL for adverts.

Is there anything you can suggest? I've run out of ideas and permutations of things to try.

Can you download the same episode again? if so then your setup is ok and i'm guessing the other episodes have newer protection.
 
This loads the page fine but then asks me to install flash player, which ive already done. its not picking flash up for some reason.
 
apologies i didnt know you needed to download for each browser. the video plays now but it doesn't download the video. nothing happens in cmd, just says streaming on rtmp://0.0.0.0:1935. i clicked play, 20 mins into the program rtmp still wasnt downloading it
 
Unless it a really old show this method no longer works unfortunately, 4oD is pretty locked down now compared to what it used to be.
 
I've desperately been trying to get this saved from Channel 4OD before its gone! Holocaust: Night Will Fall - Channel 4

Tried the OP's 'rip package' which doesn't work. Does anyone know of anything where i can download the vid......or has Ch4 blocked downloading to pc's altogether?
 
You will not have any luck downloading that from 4oD, however it's been capped and uploaded in much better quality anyway.

Depending on the quality you want Google the file-names below and you will find it:

480p: Holocaust Night Will Fall 2014 PROPER HDTV x264-BATV
720p: Holocaust Night Will Fall 2014 PROPER 720p HDTV x264-BATV
1080p: Holocaust Night Will Fall 2014 1080p HDTV x264-BATV
 
Hello, this program is exactly what I've been looking for :) Unfortunately it;s not working for me :(
I followed all the instructions (honest!) but the explorer window just plays the video (no close video+download)
If any of you lovely people has the time and patience to help me I would be eternally grateful xx
 
Unfortunately as mentioned above unless the show is really old and has been on 4oD for years you will probably not be able to download it.
 
Indeed as mentioned in previous posts you might have some luck with some very old content, but apart from that it's not currently possible to download anything from 4oD.

Can someone please explain, why when I paste the URL for the 4OD video into Rtmp Explorer, it changes it to an edigitalsurvey one and doesn't load the video?

Unfortunately this tutorial is many years old now and probably doesn't work with any of the content on 4oD anymore.
