Dragon Age: Origins

I recently picked up a copy of Dragon Age: Origins. Wow is really all that I can say. The game is made by BioWare, makers of Baldur's Gate, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (one of my favorites!), and Mass Effect (another one of my favorites!). The game is set in the Medieval time-period; looks to be around the Dark Ages. The game has a Lord of the Rings feel to it for those of you familiar with those stories.

In the game, the country is being overrun by creatures called the Darkspawn in storm called a Blight. I really cannot say enough about this game, and I have only been playing for about 3 hours or so.

The game has such a large feel to it, right from the beginning. You really feel like you play a large role in game. The gameplay is similar to Knights of the Old Republic. When in conversation, you are given 4-5 dialogue options ranging from making you sound like a noble knight to a complete and udder asshole.

I really find myself addicted to this game and wanting to get back into the world that it presents. If anyone here is a fan of BioWare, KOTOR, or Mass Effect, do yourself a huge favor and pick this game up or give it a play. Couldn't help but talk about this game, it's great !

i have heard good things about this game, but does it really have as much freedom as... say: Oblivion, or Sacred?

I myself have also been playing it for about 3 hours. I've just become a Gray Warden. Decided to play as an Elf Mage and in just those 3 hours I've slayed a demon, almost befriended one (found out he was a demon and basically told him to sod off, it mentioning that it'll find me again, dun dun dun!) explored the mages tower, escorted a gray warden to his room, almost helped out two elves (in love) escape the mages tower only for me to rat them out beforehand and find out that the guy was involved in blood magic (demonic) and used it to escape. No doubt he'll want revenge on losing his girl and me ratting him out. Then I was offered to leave the mages tower and become a gray warden and preparing myself to kill the Darkspawn.

This is just with 1 character and there are five other types to choose from (Human Noble, Dwarf Noble, Dwarf Commoner, City Elf and Dalish Elf) and I could have a different experience as a mage if I decided to be human as well. Not to mention all the different outcomes that could happen with your conversation choices. All in all a great game so far!

Glad to hear you are enjoying the game as much as I am Trebor. As for the game not having as much freedom as Sacred or Oblivion, I would say it has quite a lot of freedom. Perhaps not as much as Oblivion, but it's still a great game.
