...With a bit of work
it's NOT a plug & play affair. you MUST wire in a 12v source to the HDD.
My method managed to retain the stock power/data connector.
I split the rubber cover and peeled away the hot glueish base around the physical SATA power connector. It's all standard parts here. straight pin to pin. used a single 12v feed from the DVD drive to power pins 13, 14, & 15.
I Then reused ONLY THE TOP HALF of the rubber during reassembly. This allows you to sink the power/data connector about an 1/8th inch which makes it line up to the velociraptor PERFECTLY without using a case. and BTW. DONT think about trying to make a stock slim HDD case work. the drive won't fit. it barely fits in the carrier without the case. that's how thick it is.
bottom line is i now have 107gb of free 10k RPM drive space inside my new360 Slim.
I only took pics of the modifications to the factory data/power cable...and only 2 at that. because it's such a standard disassembly i felt no pics were needed. hardest part was spending an hour or 2 slowly chipping away at the stock connector and soldering that one single wire. rest was cake thanks to hddhackr.
I can probably lay claim to the first 10k RPM drive in an xbox. that in and of itself feels pretty damn good. the flood gates have been opened. go forth and mod my fellow gamers. godspeed!
