With Gathering of Developers distributing the game in the US, a Macintosh port of the game was being worked on as well. This port was published and developed by a company called Logicware, under license of Gathering of Developers.
The Macintosh version of Jazz Jackrabbit 2 was released in a white box similar to the PC US release. It contains the game in a jewel case, this time with the manual included as the front booklet of the jewel case. It does not include the introduction comic, although the full manual, with the comic, is included digitally on the disc. The booklet does include some extra Macintosh related troubleshooting information.
Versioning for the Macintosh release is different from the PC releases. The retail version of the Macintosh release is 1.2.2. This version is basically the same as the 1.22 PC release, although JCS was not included in this version. The main menu also still shows 1.22 as version number.
A number of patches were also released:
Version 1.2.6:
- InputSprocket support is fully integrated. You may wish to delete your Wabbit.cfg file to reset the InputSprocket settings to defaults.
- GameRanger game finding support is built into Jazz 2. You need GameRanger Beta 4 or later to use this feature. The build in game finding support is still present, this is an extra feature. GameRanger can be found at http://www.gameranger.com
- When logging to a PC server that has bad level data. The game will no longer crash.
- A 10 second timeout was added when accessing a PC name server so if a server was down, the Mac version won't hang.
- jazz.logicware.com runs a nameserver and Jazz 2 will look for it.
- No longer tries to dial the phone when the game starts up to establish an internet connection.
- Only when an internet game is started will the connection to the internet be attempted.
- Some minor speed improvements.
- Some save games could be corrupted, this is fixed.
- The game is aware of maps made for Jazz 2 : The Secret Files. It won't run them, but it will display an error message if you tried to play one of these maps.
- If you downloaded a user map, you can drop it into the "Data" folder and play it.
Version 1.2.8:
- Compatibility with MacOS X
Sources for change logs are the patch notes included with the patches.
Later, a community patch was made to update the listserver. This updated the game to 1.22us, or 1.22eu for the European release. Little is known about this European release, though a German version seems to exist.
Shareware versions also exist for the Macintosh version of Jazz Jackrabbit 2. These were released in seperate versions as well. There is a 1.2.3 shareware release as well as a 1.2.6 shareware release. The main menu also shows these as version 1.22s, which is interesting, because no 1.22s release for the PC is known to exist, making the Macintosh shareware release the only 1.22s release available.
The US Macintosh release also seems to be when the Jazz Jackrabbit plush toy was introduced, as a promotional item. If you'd order this version of the game, the plush would be included for free. As stated on the Logicware website:
Free limited Edition Jazz Jackrabbit 2 stuffed Rabbit, Limit one rabbit per order. This is a Limited time offer and supplies are running low.

Later, the plush was made available for purchase on the Ideas from the Deep web store, after Logicware shut down.
