Hand Image Composite Editor a set of overlapping photos, or a video panned across a view, and it joins them into one high-resolution panorama. ICE comes from Microsoft Research, and once the stitching is done you can crop the result and export it in the usual image formats.

Shoot with generous overlap between frames and the stitching has far more to work with. If you want somewhere to tidy the results afterwards, Windows Live Essentials 2012 includes Photo Gallery.

- Run ICE-2.0.3-for-64-bit-Windows.msi on a 64-bit PC, or ICE-2.0.3-for-32-bit-Windows.msi on an older 32-bit one.
- Start Image Composite Editor, choose New Panorama from Images or from Video, and follow the steps.
