On the heels of my last thread. Does anyone have a pinout/disassembly/close up pics?

...of the new slim motherboard?

I'm specifically looking for a location to draw 12v from. i need about ~750mA or about ~3w peak for the drive & a fan. i can only trace 4 wires going to the HDD power connector from the mobo connector so i assume by SATA standards these would be 5v, 3.3v, and 2 grounds. 12v wouldn't be present as regular notebook drives do not use it and that is what all 360's use for HDD's...

if i can find a spot to draw 12v from and a pinout of the HDD power connector i can rewire the power adapter to a standard 15pin SATA and make things REALLY interesting as HDDHACKR is said to support velociraptors BUT we have no apparent 12v line at the drive connector in the slim.

i have already vented the hard drive cover while retaining the latch (it has a solid cover that can be removed by popping the plastic rivets so the entire side is vented) in preparation for additional cooling required.

I really want to make this work. 250gb of 10k rpm goodness in my 360 would make me happy in the pants. Any help would be appreciated.

I do now. Tore apart my slim for the first time. people weren't lying when they said the final clip was a bitch.

I probed the connector while powered up and found the following.

the DVD power connector Pinout appears unchanged. pin 6 is still 3.3v, 8 is still 5v, and 10 & 12 are still 12v

Velociraptor project shall be commencing with the acquisition of the HDD and slim's OEM HDD case. i have already modded the case cover for cooling purposes. between the HDD and the 60mm cooling fan i would be drawing about ~3.5w additional power. the fan is only .070a for about .845w. the Velociraptor series is .225a for 2.8w. i would think i could draw this additional power through the DVD connector without issues.

Data cables are standard SATA. the connector in the slim combines the power and data into one sturdy unit for ease of install of the OEM cage. Since this will require a custom power cable i will need to use a separate data cable. i plan to craft a connector that will fit in the stock location and retain stock mounting. I will experiment with the drive inside a modified OEM case. it will need modified for full airflow. i have an idea already of how to do that.

does not show me what the solder points on the board would be. although if they follow the same pattern on the underside i can guestimate. since i will not be using kinect for the forseeable future this is another option for a power source. thanks for that link.
