@InsaneNutter Thankyou sir for your helpful guide. I have questions sir, because i haven't had 3ds or ds family before.

    1. is this method possible with 3ds OFW ? or only CFW that savedatafiler installed only works in CFW..?

well regarding nintendo closed eshop for 3ds in march 2023, and assuming today is april 2023, and question 1 answers only CFW,

here is my situation. I want to use my pokemon from gameboy files pokemon crystal and yellow (i know how to dumped because i have reflasher gb cart) then transfer into pokemon home sitting there nicely (no 3ds eshop, so the only way is through CFW). with the device 3ds CFW,

    2. using your method from this thread, i am able to transfer gb save files into 3ds CFW (pokemon crystal and yellow virtual console), then am I able to open pokemon Bank and Poketransporter that transfer those pokemon from virtual console into pokemon home ? I use pokemon home from nintendo switch with original firmware.

I am afraid with 3ds CFW, I am unable to transfer or enter into pokemon home, but i am not quite sure about that.

    3. related to number 2, is this possible without 3ds console? let say I am using 3ds emulator from pc that transfer pokemon bank (from emulator 3ds in pc) into pokemon home (in switch)

    thankyou for your reply sir.

This is only possible with CFW.

Nintendo have announced Pokebank / Transporter will still work after the Nintendo Eshop closes if you have already downloaded them, as for how long for is another question.

I suspect it would also be possible to download and install a CIA of Pokebank / Transporter on a 3DS with CFW after the Eshop has closed. So this should still be possible with CFW until Nintendo decide to switch the servers for Pokebank / Transporter off.

your reply "I suspect it would also be possible to download and install a CIA of Pokebank / Transporter on a 3DS with CFW after the Eshop has closed"

ok, my question, is this possible, when eshop has closed, my 3ds CFW with CIA file of pokebank/transporter,, able to really transfer (online?) into my pokemon home (phone) or pokemon home switch OFW ? i thinking pokemon lets go pikachu/eevee..

if its possible with pokemon home phone it really nice. next step then just link into my switch account..

in other hand, is this possible without 3ds console? let say I am using 3ds emulator from pc that transfer pokemon bank (from emulator 3ds in pc) into pokemon home (in ios phone or switch)

    thankyou for your reply sir.

Have a read of this regarding the future of Pokebank: https://www.pokemon.com/us/pokemon-...vices-will-be-available-at-no-cost-to-players

So essentially how I see that is is you have the app installed either on OFW or CFW it will just work. With CFW you can install CIA's of apps without the Eshop. Meaning you should be able to install / use Pokebank perfectly fine in April 2023 and beyond.

PKHeX (A save editor for Pokemon games) can emulate the transfer process, you can load your GameBoy save in one instance of PKHeX and your Switch save in another instance (presuming your Switch is hacked) and transfer the Pokemon like that (drag the Pokemon from one PKHex window to another). I have always liked to do things the proper way in that regard, however it is an option for in the future as the transfer process has been emulated accurately from what i gather.

Hi @InsaneNutter ! Thanks for the really helpful guide, I managed to get Red and Yellow working successfully on my 3DS copies on the games! I've run into some problems with Gold and Silver though. I followed the exact same process as with R/Y but when I boot the games on the 3DS it says the save file is corrupted and needs to be reset. Is this because I did something wrong with the save file transfer method or is it because the saves were already messed up due to battery issues (I've not tested the cartridges in a gameboy). I noticed the post about the hex codes and I think I did it right but when I deleted the secure value it seemed to restore the game back to factory default instead.

    Hope you can help :)

Some emulators append more RTC data to the end of the save than what the VC game expects to be there, to fix this for Gen 2 games I open the save in a Hex editor such as HxD and delete anything after 00008000:

    gen-2-gsc-save.jpg

After you have done this the save should be exactly 32.0KB (the size on disk is irrelevant and could vary depending how your hard drive is formatted):

    32kb.jpg

Also keep in mind if you have dumped an existing save from the VC game using Jksv or Checkpoint and are replacing it with another you need to delete the "SecureValue" file which will be in the folder with the sav.dat file. If you don't do this in my experience the VC game will think the save is corrupt if it has changed in any way (which it has if you are replacing it with a different save).

If using SaveDataFiler use the option to delete the SecureValue.

Ok thanks, I'll give it another try this weekend. Should I delete the SecureValue using the SaveDataFiler option before I add my desired save file to the SD card? Or is it ave to do after uploading the edited file?

    Hello InsaneNutter.

I use pokemon silver (gen2) and poke transporter 5.5.0 on japanease ver.
    I use New 3ds ver 11.16.0-49J also

I used a cart reader to dump the save from a real Pokemon Silver cartridge.

The save data was exactly 32K BYTE.
If I move this to VC with SaveDataFiler etc. as it is, it is corrupted.

However, like the image, up to 800F with a binary editor
If I add a numerical value and move it to VC, it will be read normally in VC

I think it's a little different than what you describe above.
Is it because the version of pokemon silver is different?

Also, from here, I can read it normally in VC,
    but poke transfer says
    「ポケムーバーがたいおうしているゲームソフトがみつかりません」(original Japanese)
"I can't find the game software that the poke mover is using" (translation in English)

Data starting from VC is recognized normally like an image.

No matter what I do with secure data(delete etc) this doesn't change

Please let me know if anything is wrong

I actually have a Japanese 2DS also, so have tested this with Pokemon Silver.

I have started a new game, set the clock and saved. My save game from the VC game ends at 00008000, the same as the English version of the game:

    upload_2023-4-1_17-42-28.png

I'm not sure if its the way your Hex Editor shows data, however can you delete 00008010 so that does not show at all?

I think although no data is there the fact the 8010 line exists might be the issue:

    upload_2023-4-1_17-46-44.png

If you still have problems and want to send me the save game I will try get it working on my 2DS and let you know what the problem was.

I own all the Pokemon games on my Japanese 2DS so I can hopefully get it working for you:

    Thank you for reply.

I tried changing the editor to HxD so that 8010 is not displayed, but it is not successful.

I upload the save data without success.(sav.zip)

I noticed. If the 8000 line has a value like 00
It seems the Secure Value should be removed when using SaveDataFiler.

I apologize that secure value had something to do with save data corruption.

Even if the save data is not corrupted,
there is no change in the fact that it is not recognized by the Poke Mover.

I can restore your save perfect fine to my Japanese Pokemon Silver, all that is required is to have the secure value deleted. So I can confirm you are doing everything correctly to at least restore the save and have it not show up as corrupt.

The save does however not show up in Poke Mover which is really strange. I have played the save a bit on the VC Pokemon Silver, it still will not show up. I've played and saved the game on an emulator first (VBA-M), I have even exported the battery (save) from the emulator and restored that to my 2DS. All work fine on the VC Pokemon Silver, however Poke Mover will not recognise any of them.

Yet if I start a new save Poke Mover will recognise that save right away.

That is a new problem to me, I have moved my English Pokemon Gold save to the VC game from a real game cart perfectly fine. I've also done the same with my Japanese Pokemon Gold save from an Emulator, this shows up on Poke Mover also.

Did you ever use cheats or anything on your save? how did you dump the save from the real game cartridge? the problem seems like an issue with that save in particular.

Uploaded data is used item cheats and
is used 100% catch pokemon cheat.

But savedata starting from the actual cartridge is always not recognized by the poke mover

The save data started from VC, transferred to the actual cartridge, and returned to VC again will be recognized by poke mover.

It's confusing, so I may not be telling you exactly

Thanks for the info on Pokemon Gold.
I think I'll try Pokemon Gold next.

    thank you.

As mentioned, the actual cartridge contained cheatsavedata. in this state
Even if I chose New game and started from the beginning, it was not recognized by poke mover.

To resolve, on the title screen
Press Dpad UP + SELECT + B to clear the save and then
It was to start with a new game

    titleclearkan80.jpg

(My situation is the Japanese version, but I used the English version for the images.)

    As you indicated,
The cheat save data was doing bad things.

I was able to solve it.
    Thank you very much!

That's great, I'm glad you managed to solve the problem!

Out of curiosity as I'm presuming you are possibly in Japan, do any Pokemon communities exist in Japan which have archived event Pokemon from older Pokemon games?

Over the years we have been working on preserving as many event Pokemon as possible, as you can see here: https://digiex.net/forums/pokemon-save-games.152/

For some past event certain Japanese event Pokémon elude us, such as the Hadō Legendary titans. However we have managed to preserve a lot of event Japanese Pokemon in Gen 3: Pokemon GEN3 Legit JPN Event Pokemon.

Not many people in English Pokemon communities can also speak Japanese, so obtaining missing events is not the most easy undertaking. I thought it was worth asking you on of off chance you might know of any Japanese communities that have tried to preserve the older event Pokemon like we have.

Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with the community. Couldn't find it by searching.

    I am sorry.
