@InsaneNutter Thankyou sir for your helpful guide. I have questions sir, because i haven't had 3ds or ds family before.

    1. is this method possible with 3ds OFW ? or only CFW that savedatafiler installed only works in CFW..?

well regarding nintendo closed eshop for 3ds in march 2023, and assuming today is april 2023, and question 1 answers only CFW,

here is my situation. I want to use my pokemon from gameboy files pokemon crystal and yellow (i know how to dumped because i have reflasher gb cart) then transfer into pokemon home sitting there nicely (no 3ds eshop, so the only way is through CFW). with the device 3ds CFW,

    2. using your method from this thread, i am able to transfer gb save files into 3ds CFW (pokemon crystal and yellow virtual console), then am I able to open pokemon Bank and Poketransporter that transfer those pokemon from virtual console into pokemon home ? I use pokemon home from nintendo switch with original firmware.

I am afraid with 3ds CFW, I am unable to transfer or enter into pokemon home, but i am not quite sure about that.

    3. related to number 2, is this possible without 3ds console? let say I am using 3ds emulator from pc that transfer pokemon bank (from emulator 3ds in pc) into pokemon home (in switch)

    thankyou for your reply sir.

This is only possible with CFW.

Nintendo have announced Pokebank / Transporter will still work after the Nintendo Eshop closes if you have already downloaded them, as for how long for is another question.

I suspect it would also be possible to download and install a CIA of Pokebank / Transporter on a 3DS with CFW after the Eshop has closed. So this should still be possible with CFW until Nintendo decide to switch the servers for Pokebank / Transporter off.

your reply "I suspect it would also be possible to download and install a CIA of Pokebank / Transporter on a 3DS with CFW after the Eshop has closed"

ok, my question, is this possible, when eshop has closed, my 3ds CFW with CIA file of pokebank/transporter,, able to really transfer (online?) into my pokemon home (phone) or pokemon home switch OFW ? i thinking pokemon lets go pikachu/eevee..

if its possible with pokemon home phone it really nice. next step then just link into my switch account..

in other hand, is this possible without 3ds console? let say I am using 3ds emulator from pc that transfer pokemon bank (from emulator 3ds in pc) into pokemon home (in ios phone or switch)

    thankyou for your reply sir.

Have a read of this regarding the future of Pokebank: https://www.pokemon.com/us/pokemon-...vices-will-be-available-at-no-cost-to-players

So essentially how I see that is is you have the app installed either on OFW or CFW it will just work. With CFW you can install CIA's of apps without the Eshop. Meaning you should be able to install / use Pokebank perfectly fine in April 2023 and beyond.

PKHeX (A save editor for Pokemon games) can emulate the transfer process, you can load your GameBoy save in one instance of PKHeX and your Switch save in another instance (presuming your Switch is hacked) and transfer the Pokemon like that (drag the Pokemon from one PKHex window to another). I have always liked to do things the proper way in that regard, however it is an option for in the future as the transfer process has been emulated accurately from what i gather.

Hi @InsaneNutter ! Thanks for the really helpful guide, I managed to get Red and Yellow working successfully on my 3DS copies on the games! I've run into some problems with Gold and Silver though. I followed the exact same process as with R/Y but when I boot the games on the 3DS it says the save file is corrupted and needs to be reset. Is this because I did something wrong with the save file transfer method or is it because the saves were already messed up due to battery issues (I've not tested the cartridges in a gameboy). I noticed the post about the hex codes and I think I did it right but when I deleted the secure value it seemed to restore the game back to factory default instead.

    Hope you can help :)

Some emulators append more RTC data to the end of the save than what the VC game expects to be there, to fix this for Gen 2 games I open the save in a Hex editor such as HxD and delete anything after 00008000:

    gen-2-gsc-save.jpg

After you have done this the save should be exactly 32.0KB (the size on disk is irrelevant and could vary depending how your hard drive is formatted):

    32kb.jpg

Also keep in mind if you have dumped an existing save from the VC game using Jksv or Checkpoint and are replacing it with another you need to delete the "SecureValue" file which will be in the folder with the sav.dat file. If you don't do this in my experience the VC game will think the save is corrupt if it has changed in any way (which it has if you are replacing it with a different save).

If using SaveDataFiler use the option to delete the SecureValue.
