PSP Official Firmware 6.61 Download - EBOOT.PBP for PSP and PSP Go

Sony have surprised everyone with 6.61, some three and a half years after 6.60. There's nothing in it you'll notice, so there's no need to rush. But if your PSP has ended up on it, our guide to putting custom firmware on any PSP covers 6.61 too.

How to install:

1. For a PSP-1000, 2000, 3000 or the PSP Street (E1000), open the PSP folder in the zip and copy the PSP folder inside it to your memory stick.
2. For a PSP Go, open the PSPgo folder in the zip and copy the PSP folder inside it to your memory stick. The Go has its own file, so don't use the other one.
3. Plug in the charger, go to Game > Memory Stick, choose "PSP Update ver 6.61" and press X.

If the update doesn't show up, check the folders on the stick are spelt exactly PSP/GAME/UPDATE. Once you're on 6.61 there's no going back to an older firmware, so be sure before you start.

Update: 6.61 turned out to be the last firmware Sony ever released for the PSP.
