I recently purchased an Xbox One, I am shocked to learn of the large updates that certain games require. If I continue to purchase and play some of the recently released games, I will run out of room. I have looked around youtube and found a video which describes a procedure to prep a replacement hard drive using your existing one. I wonder if anyone here is familiar with this particular modification? Will any particular drive work? or should I stick to a Western Digital (I am just thinking about the HDDHACKR program which allows you to modify them for use in an Xbox 360 HDD enclosure) branded hard drive? I would aim for a 2TB in size. Thanks in advance!
Any 2.5 hdd will work, im not sure if Microsoft has patched it or not. You can use any external usb 3.0 hard drive over 256gb.I currently use a 1tb external with my xbox one.
Internally you can use any 2.5", externally just use the highest capacity drive you can afford. A 4TB external would be more than enough right now. I've not even filled my 1TB external yet.
Thank you! I wonder if this is something that could get me banned either immediately or in the near future. Does anyone know? Anyone experienced an xbox live ban with the Xbox One? If this is unknown, it would appear that sticking to the external drive is the safer bet.
It's very unlikely you would get banned, all it does is allow you to purchase more content from Microsoft.
