Hey, I just bought a 500gb external HDD. When I try to play games from it they lag like hell and when trying to configure it through the nxe it pops out the performance error afterwards. Any idea what's happening?

Specs:
adata classic ch11 500gb
USB 3.0
5400 RPM

Is this on a Jtag / RGH console or a retail console?

It's a RGH 1.

Some guy suggested that it could be related to usb3 (PS3 had something similar to this problem - he said) so I just tested 1 of my 8gb usb3 flash drives - It shows ok in the M$ thing, but when playing games from it is still lagy. He also suggested to try and connect it through a usb 2.0 hub.

Don't have one now, but if anyone nows about these things -> would a regular hub work or does it have to be externally powered???

For a USB flash drive a non powered hub should work, however as the 360 has USB 2 i dont think it would make any difference.
Best thing would be to try borrow a USB 2 drive to confirm that the USB 3 drive is some how the issue.

For a hard drive i would imagine you need a powered hub.

Oh god, I think i found the problem - it's me. So the thing is that I am trying to use a 2.5'' portable usb drive. After a good night sleep I suddenly realised that you have to have a external desktop hdd with power supply.

My question now is will connecting the portable 2.5'' hdd to a powered usb hub = powered external drive or will it not work aswell???

Or should I just take it apart and put the 2.5'' hdd in my xbox...

In the end I decided to crack it open and now I'm using it as an internal hdd. Anyway thanks for your help man!
