Before you try a mod or a risky update on your Wii U, back up your saves with SaveMii. It copies the saves of Wii U and Wii (vWii) games to the SD card, restores them later, and can also copy saves between the console's internal storage and USB when a title is installed to both. Up to 256 backups can be kept per title. This is the Aroma port (WUT) maintained by Xpl0itU.

There's an Aroma version and a Homebrew Launcher version.
Careful: restoring overwrites the save currently on the console, so make a fresh backup first.
Tip: copy the sd:/wiiu/backups folder to your PC now and then. The source is at https://github.com/Xpl0itU/savemii.
