As the ninja Shinobi you must stop who the criminal organization called "Zeed" who has kidnapped the children of the Oboro clan. Test your ninja skills through five missions of increasing difficulty as Musashi must make his way to Zeed's headquarters and free all the hostages. Zeed's leaders, known as "Ring of Five", are determined to stop you as you'll face one at the end of each stage.

Careful not to mix them up ! ^^ Shinobi Arcade and (Revenge of) Shinobi on Genesis are 2 completely different games. ;-)
Same goes for the Home and Arcade Versions of its successor Shadow Dancer (inofficially Shinobi 2).
Can't say that i liked the arcade versions very much, because the 2 Genesis games were both technically & gameplay-wise superior to the Arcade + you didn't have to reinsert coins every 5 minutes. ^^

...and if by coincindenc you haven't had the pleasure to play Shinobi 3 on Genesis yet, i stronly recommend to do so (Gens emulator will do). Pure Awesomness !!
