Almost every Vita plugin and a lot of homebrew sits on top of taiHEN, so if you're curious how it all hangs together, this is the piece. Yifan Lu's custom-firmware framework hooks and patches the system at run time and loads plugins from a config file. 0.11 came out in February 2018 and adds delayed config loading, so a kernel module can reload the config without crashing.

Download taiHEN 0.11
You get taihen.skprx, the kernel module, plus the taiHEN SDK (the headers and stub libraries) for developers.
On a Vita running HENkaku, taiHEN is already part of the install. Copy taihen.skprx to ur0:tai only if you're replacing it, and keep a copy of the old file. A bad taihen.skprx can stop the Vita booting. Developers link their plugins against the headers and libraries in taihen-sdk. You'll want VitaShell for moving files around.

Update: h-encore later became a common way to get HENkaku running.
