Title Updates - Do you have to do them in sequence?

Hi All,
Just wondering, if you haven't installed any title updates for a game, but see an update #3 for example. Do you have to install update #1 and #2 first before installing #3?

Or do the later updates contain the early updates within them?

All you need is the latest title update, that will contain everything in the previous update.
