TP-Link Homeplug Powerline - Power Save Switch Tool Download

If you have one of the TP-Link Homeplugs you may find the devices sometimes go into Power Save Mode. At which point, the device seems to freeze.
This is as chipset on the devices isn't always reliable at picking up when a device comes back online - as such the devices gets stuck asleep giving the impression that it has frozen (which can only be resolved by turning it off and on).

TP-Link releases a fantastic tool for this on there support forums, however its a really old version and many people seem to be having problems with it with errors including:

The Local device hasn't been connented / connected!
(yes, connented - they didn't seem to spell check the error message!)

I myself got some of the excellent TL-PA8010P AV1200 and had the same problem. After going back and fourth with support who's based in China they eventually built a new version of the tool in Visual Basic and sent to me. Luckily, it worked first time and now the power saving 'sleep mode' is disabled for good (as I use it for my home network with multiple devices, I want it always on).

So if you are having problems with the devices falling asleep, and/or getting error messages when using the tool in the site; download this one and let me know how it goes.

Download Power Save Switch Tool for TP-Link Homeplug

If you receive an error about missing any DLL's I've also included the Microsoft VC Redist which you will need to run Visual Basic tools. You can also download this from the Official Microsoft site if you prefer. Download VC Redist

Hello. Quick question on this tool. Do you have to be connected to your powerline adapter via ethernet to use the tool or can it be used via WiFi? Thnx!

You just need to be on the same network as the power line adapter i believe and it will look for / find the adapter.

I've tried this on my network of 4 powerline adapters, and I think it worked on the one connected to my PC, but the others definitely are still using the power saving mode. Should the tool hunt out all the adapters and update them all?

hi verify that you have to physically plug it into each adapter for it to make the changes.

Thanks. Yes, it seems to work well when I plug each one into the PC one at a time and set it to off using the software. I'm using Windows 10 Home 64bit.
My Ethernet cable is coming out of the PC, straight into a powerline adapter.

I've attached the 2 programs that worked well for me.

Hello, I have the power save problem.
I have the Tp link TL-WPA 4220 Kit, and the problem is the PLC AV500 unit.
The Switch Save Power Tool does not work:

The latest soft from TP Link, the SetStandbyMode seems to work:

But it doesn t, no matter what shows the image above, the AV500 unit gets on but after a while it goes into stand by mode.....
I already update the firmware.
Any ideas?

Thanks a lot¡

Nimrod, Hi! How are you!:)
Thank you for a very detailed and informative article. She helped me a lot!
I use two TP-Link Homeplug TL-PA7020P PLC Adapters (Kit ver 2) with Windows 7 32-bit Pro SP1.
Adapters are properly connected and work well.
I don’t need Microsoft VC Redist. I have installed Microsoft C ++ (2005, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2015) 2017 (x86).
It all started with the fact that the tpPLC program copied from the official TP-Link website on my computer no longer works!
TP-Link technical support was not able to help me ...
After a long time working with TP-Link programs and other programs, I was able to see the connection scheme of my adapters (in the attachment).
These programs did not work either, but I DISABLED BOTH THE ADAPTER FROM THE ELECTRIC NETWORK FOR ONE MINUTE AND TURNED ON AGAIN. Programs work!

But the tpPLC program does not work (the window does not open)!
Please tell me WHY ?!
Thank you very much for the answer!
