Xbox 360 and TV problem

Hello, community.

I have connected a my 3.5" HDD to my XBox360 via USB as external storage. While the drive is connected, while the USB cable is plugged into my Xbox360, the screen on my TV acts as it was shivering. Does anyone know why is that so and if it can be solved? It's s irritating to play games while there is snow on the screen.

The adapter might be interfering can you try plugging it into the direct outlet instead of a power strip.

I did, it didn't do anything. I think the adapter, the USB to SATA converter, might be the one creating interferences. I have no idea how to solve this axcept connecting the drive directly to SATA connector but I don't think it should work as it is a 3.5" drive. I might try another adapter but I doubt I'll find any as this is the only one available in this area. Just for information, the adapter is a Wintech Sata to USB adapter.

Just came up to me; could putting a ferit bead/choke on the cable fix the interference? Where should I put it; on the USB cable or the power cable?

That might work, you would have to use it on the power cable. I have the adapter pictured below and it does the same to my tv.

In the end, I'm 100% positive it's the power adapter that's causing interference. There is probably a AC component and that power supply is not apropriate for this kind of use (video signals, analog especially) as I tried this both on my TV and VGA monitor, the result was the same and even the lines were in the same pattern. Logically the problem was solved by powering the drive with a better power supply , like the one in my PC. I still used the SATA to USB adapter mentioned. If someone is interested, I had to leave one side of the case open and connect the drive to a free SATA power connector. It can be done with an extension cable, running cable outside but you'll have to keep the console close to your PC. And your PC must be powered on. I'll stick with this till my WD Scorpio drive arrives.
