I recently repaired an old Xbox 360. There were 4 capacitors that were bad, replaced them, did the RROD fix while apart. Fired it up and I have the dashboard 2.0.9199.0. I have tried the latest update both by wired connection and the USB drive. I Cannot get this console to update either way. Am I trying to go to far to fast ans should try older updates first? or Am I missing something? I get an error code and did the hexadecimal conversion and still no avail. It won't update from game disks as well Anyone have any ideas?
First of all, nice one fixing that RRoD. Do you know if any kind of modifications have been done to the 360? Does it try to update and get an error or does it just refuse to do so?

The only modification is the one I did to the heat sinks (washers and new paste) I did have a couple blown capacitors that I replaced as well.
What error codes does it give? If the DVD is present it will not update, likewise if the DVD drive has been flashed to play burned games you will need to flash it back to stock firmware first and then update.
