Hey guys, so I have this weird issue and hopefully I can get some assistance. I tried the xbox forums on microsoft but they basically said screw off, we don't support helping users fix their issues or mod boxes

So, here's the issue...

I bought 2 xboxes - both with RROD's from someone on ebay - 1 was a complete xbox and 1 was everything except the case, disc drive, and screws and neither came with a hard drive

That's alright because I had a 2nd one that I messed up a reflow on and then I messed up a reball on (at least I thought)

So - the 1st xbox is up and running
But, the 2nd one that didn't have a drive won't read discs because I don't have the other drive, drive board, or drive key

The dashboard is 2.0.13599.0 w/o a hard drive

My question is ... how can i get the key from the motherboard? I have searched a bit and unless I have 7371 (and mine won't downgrade to 7371) everyone just says you're screwed. Is there a way to get this xbox up and running w/o the drive / drive board / key ?

The reset glitch, honestly I don't know more than this. The reset glitch can work on your 360.

To be honest In Order to jack The firmware key for the working mobo you'd need to have either that mobo modded or have the original disk drive since that one has the firmware key. the person who sent you the console may be willing to send the drive. I don't believe that there is any other component besides the mobo and disc drive that would have that key stored in them. :/ it's possible you bought it from another modder too. You should ask him if he knows how to obtain that key and then email it too you if he does. He won't need it anymore so why not right?
