At a guess i would say the consoles DVD drive has been modified to play burned games. Try flashing the DVD drive back to the stock firmware then updating the console.
You need to take the DVD drive out the 360 then get an X360 USBPro v2 + a Probe 3 for connecting the drive to the powersource. You can then connect your DVD drive to the X360 USBPro and CK3i and use Jungleflasher to flash the drives fiormware. It really is something you need to do some reading on.
