If you want homebrew, plugins and DashLaunch on a retail Xbox 360 after BadUpdate fires, XeUnshackle is the payload for it. Byrom90 wrote it to load, patch the console in memory and start DashLaunch, so you can run homebrew, load plugins and connect from Xbox Neighborhood or JRPC2 tools. It isn't a persistent softmod: the console goes back to normal at power-off.

DashLaunch (launch.ini), Xbdm.xex, JRPC2.xex and BadStorage for large internal drives come with it.

  1. Set up a USB drive with the BadUpdate files for your preferred game.
  2. Copy everything from this zip onto the drive and accept the prompt to replace default.xex in BadUpdatePayload.
  3. Unplug the Ethernet cable as a precaution, insert the drive and launch the exploit from the game.
  4. When XeUnshackle loads, plug the cable back in before you exit if you need network access. Plugins load the moment you exit, and stealth server plugins need the network at that point to authenticate.

XEX files should run without patching: anything that works on RGH / JTAG consoles should work here. Keep the USB drive plugged in, because DashLaunch's key executable is copied to the storage device and must stay available. It's also the best place for launch.ini and your plugins, as you can edit them without a running exploited console.

The author warns that stealth server plugins are used at your own risk: a ban on a retail console cannot be undone. Dump your NAND first (Simple 360 NAND Flasher is on Digiex).

Update: BadUpdate 1.3 is on Digiex if you need the base package.
