Yes that will work fine, follow the tutorial here: Hack a 250gb, 320gb or 500gb Sata harddrive to work in the Xbox 360 and Xbox 360 Slim

thanks for your reply, was finally able to backup partition 3 with buffalo explorer (as the extreme 2 version of the xplorer 360 remain on st.db)...both partition 2 and 3 seems to have compatibility part, will dig this
