Hello friends, Here's the story: I've been trying to get my gamesaves off an old 20 GB Xbox 360 hard drive which wasn't being detected anymore by the 360. I've gotten ahold of a new 60 GB drive, it's formatted and ready to go. The 360 transfer cable wouldn't see the old 20 GB drive either, so I cracked the case and hooked it up to a SATA to USB reader, and plugged that into my laptop (runs Windows 7) and fired up Xport 360 version 2.12 to make a complete image backup. I'm only really concerned about getting my saves, everything else I can really just re-download, so I extracted the Content folder from partition 3 (also in Xport). I then used the transfer cable to plug my 60 GB drive into my laptop, and set UAC to off so I can drag and drop the Content folder onto partition 3. It looks to copy over, but upon viewing the "completed" list there are many games missing. I did a little bit of Googling and found the post 'XBOX 360 Xport 360 Problem' by user ttcole1254 (it doesn't seem to want to allow me to link to it). The author had stumbled upon a bug when more than 63 files were copied over, which is exactly the number of folders it allows me to transfer individually before hanging and then clearing all of them. The solution offered in the thread was to use Xplorer360 250GB edition, but came with a disclaimer that said not to use it with any other size drive as it risked data corruption/loss. Is there another work around? One thought I had was to delete the folders listed in Xport as empty, as that might bring my games total to 63 and under. Are those folders marked as empty safe to erase? Thanks in advance for any insight!
Use XtafGUI v44. I'm not sure about the whole transfer bug. But if it only happens after the 63rd one maybe transfer folders by 40 at a time? That or the first suggestion, that program shouldn't have any transfer bugs.
Dark Scyth, I injected each profile folder (and the marketplace content folder) individually onto the formatted USB stick, but the 360 detects the majority of it as corrupted. Any thoughts? Do I need to redownload my Xbox Live profile to my new hard drive first?
Was your old Xbox 360 banned, or had it failed an AP 2.5 challenge? If that has happened all your saves / prfiles will appear corrupt when loaded on a different console. We have a guide here on how to un corrupt them if so: https://digiex.net/guides-reviews/c...rupt-gamertag-gamesave-banned-xbox-360-a.html
Hi InsaneNutter, My Xbox has never been banned, and I'm not even sure what an AP 2.5 challenge is. Would it be better to try and load these files after recovering my gamertag to my newer hard drive (this was one suggestion a Google search for "Xbox 360 corruption" had)? Or does that even matter?
If you recover your profile it will invalidate your copy of it on the old hard drive, just keep that in mind. You could try re extracting the files from the old drive with Party Buffalo Drive Explorer, then injecting them in to the new drive. Link: https://digiex.net/downloads/downlo...ad-xbox-360-fatx-hard-drive-usb-explorer.html I have recently started using this as my main hard drive tool as it actually shows you what all the content on the drive is pretty nicely. Try that and see if you have better luck.
Understood. I'll hold off on recovering the gamertag then. One thing I keep telling myself is to be patient because I've got backups of everything I want/need, so I'm sure the solution will eventually present itself. I take it I should try version 2.0.0.9 of Party Buffalo? Can this read image backups (I don't have the SATA to USB reader handy, presently)? Thanks!
InsaneNutter, Did you help write Party Buffalo, or do you know who did? Kudos because that is one fine (and hilarious) piece of kit. It got everything I needed written on the first try, hooked it up, presto! I'm back in business! Thanks to all for your help with this!
The Nyan Cat graphics do amuse me in Party Buffalo and i do agree it works very well, i plan to update a few of my tutorials on here in the future to use that program instead. CLK Rebellion @ Xbox Scene created the program. Glad you are all sorted now.
I like using horizon for managing my 360 devices its updated daily & it does not give you the folders if you extract anything though. It knows where files should be placed if you inject any files.
