Just One Question?

If I update my Xbox 360 to this, and I connect to Xbox Live in the future, will Microsoft detect that I haven't download this of their servers and ban me, or take some form of legal action?
 
Nope if you connect to Xbox Live you will be fine, you could at one point download the 360 systems updates from the Xbox website so it’s nothing new updating the console from a DVD / USB drive.
 
Also just to let people know that the NXE is going to become mandatory as Microsoft are asking developers to include the NXE install onto game disks so if you're planning on buying say Tom Clancy Hawx, it will ask to install the update before playing the game. I don't know if the game will still run if you don't let it update but if not I imagine someone will find a way around it.
 
Yep the NXE is mandatory for new games such as Hawx, if you decline the install you will not be able to play the game.
 
hi im having the same problem as a couple of comments i seen but no one seems to be able to solve them.

i got a modded 360 (extreme frimware 4.1)
and i just got wanted weapons of fate with i patched so would work on my firmware and i went to play it but it said i needed to update so i said yes and it wont update of the dl dvd cant read disk.

so i got the nxe from here and put on to a usb pen but nothing happened no update message or anything so i put on a cd (burnt as a data cd)

but its just giving me message mixed media disk but do anything with it??

i do have the new dash board on there from the game but it still wont play i dont think it updated properly is there any other way to get the nxe to install apart from live' usb' or cd ???

Did you unzip the contents of the file you downloaded or just burn the file you downloaded to a CD/DVD? You need to unzip the contents.

The reason you can’t update to the NXE using your game is because you removed the NXE by patching it to work with your obsolete firmware.

When on a USB pen the contents of it should look something like this:

ok that explains y it wont do it off disk lol

yeh i unziped it. its got about 8 dif files inside the systemupdate

is there any way i can get it to update manually ?

i have the new nxe on my xbox from the game but it still asks me to update it in order to play is it possibe that my xbox thinks i already got it installed on there ?? an thats y it wont update ???

is there any wway to go bak to the old dask board and try and upate it off the disk or usb pen ???

no it was not hawks but it was a game with the 3 wave thing the new one that wont work on the old firmware so i patched it with p ff i think its called so it will work on the old firmware
 
I think I know your problem then, the NXE dashboard on here is the original version released back in November 2008, since then some minor patches have been pushed out over Xbox Live to fix minor compatibility issues. I guess the NXE dashboard that would have been included on your pirated game is newer than the version here, when you load the game up its checking the version of the dash and refusing to load.

If you had purchased the game or had an unaltered pirated copy I guess the game would update perfectly.

I could be wrong but from what you have told me that explains it.

does the dashboard save to the hard drive??

could i use a friends hard drive on my xbox and update of that or use my hard drive and their xbox and update it ??

cheers for your help i got it sorted now i just got the latest update and put it on usb pen and updated my xbox and it now works fine. i was told the update came out on friday.

if there is any way i can upload it to this site let me no just my way of sayinf cheers for everyones help :)
 
Hello, I am new here and I really need help!

I downloaded this update, but whenever I put the CD in my Xbox it says it's a mixed media disc. Where am I going wrong?

I would get this update trough xbox live, but I cant cause whenever I try it says "updating failed", so I cant use xbox live or get the NXE. This download is my last hope and I need help please!

PLEASE! HELP!
 
I tried the one at the beginning of the topic and it worked when I burned, but when I tried to go on Xbox live it asked for update AGAIN, and, as usual, it failed updating. Would you say if I got the april 2009 one it would stop asking me to update and I would finaly be able to go on xbox live?
 
Yes it should do as it’s the same version as what live is trying to update your console with.

Your console isn’t flashed to play pirated games is it?

Thanks man, appreciate the help. Spent days trying to get it from people on youtube and searching for the solution on xbox.com. :)

Any idea why this happens? I haven't moded my xbox at all, I haven't even added any skins to it. Its exactly like it was the first time I took it out of the box (exept a lot dirtyer 8-))
