Microsoft has announced the next Halo game in the franchise, but it is not Halo 5! It's called Halo Spartan Assault, and follows Spartan Sarah Palmer in the events that happen between Halo 3 and Halo 4. As well as providing an all new experience as a top down shooter in 25 brand-spanking new mission, the game will integrate with Halo 4 and reward you with XP, brand new achievements, and new emblems, as well as having more integrated features after launch.
The game will come out in July 2013 exclusively for Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 for US$6.99.

What are your thoughts on this? Will you be getting this? Will you boycott it?
Personally, i will not be getting this because i do not want to purchase Windows 8 (i hate it) and i have a perfectly good Android phone. Hopefully there will be a Windows 7 "crack" at some point allowing me to play it then.

Doubt there be a Windows 7 crack, as its a fully Metro App (not sure anyone's yet managed to get that working on any other OS, but please feel free to correct me if wrong).

I've been waiting a long time for some decent IP and decent games to come to Windows 8 App Store, so I for one will be buying this straight away :)

The game will sell as it has Halo in the name!

Ill give the trial game a go, not sure it looks that great to be honest from the video i watched of it.

However it could be fun you never know.

Not if i don't want to "upgrade" to an OS that costs a fortune and that i think is horrible.

Costs a fortune? It's the cheapest OS so far on top of being much faster than Windows 7 on startup.

About the game, I will most likely get it. Looks fun.

Agreed my PC ran way better when it had Win 8 on it.

Chances are I won't even look into this game. I stopped caring about the "Halo" Franchise when bungie left.

Windows 8 is not really that cheap any more, it's £100+ for the pro version now the upgrade offer has ended, the same as Windows 7.

Given how much i love the Halo series i'll give the game ago, not really a fan of spin offs (Halo Wars for example) but this is cheap anyway if the game ends up been bad.

Try living in Australia. It'll cost a fortune here compared to the US, just like everything else. Plus, i hate the metro UI. It looks horrible. And the theme i'm using right now on my Windows 7 PC probably won't work with Windows 8. I've also heard about lots of compatibility issues when playing older games (e.g Halo Combat Evolved, GTA San Andreas, Star Wars BF2, Far Cry), and i play those games a lot.
I've only seen my mate use it at his house, and it was just horrible.

Correct me if I'm wrong but, I thought in Australia you guys get paid a lot more though, so the prices are proportional to the amount of money you get paid.

I did think games were a lot more expensive there, however the average wage is a lot higher so guess it evens it out as you say.

I just did some random searches and the UK price VS the US price for Grid 2 is about the same give or take a few £.

Grid 2 is $50 on Amazon US: Amazon.com: GRID 2: Xbox 360: Video Games
Grid 2 is £28 on Amazon UK: Grid 2 - Standard Edition (Xbox 360): Amazon.co.uk: PC & Video Games

I'm sure US games used to be a lot cheaper than the UK however.
